Why do we have to put up with these darn Goodyear tires that leak through the sidewall? Even the new ones leak from the start. Mine lose 3-6 psi per hour when fully inflated. Is anyone getting after Goodyear about this? Do they care? Does anyone care?
I have tried tire sealer etc. on the inside, but no luck so far. If you are not familiar with the problem, the tires blow air through the sidewall, not from around the bead.
Boneman, same problem with us last year with our tires for the Super Stocks. While washing the race car one day, I could not believe the soap bubbling up on the sidewalls and these were new tires getting ready for a 50 lapper. We thought the problem was going to be fixed this season since I was told that we would have better tires this year, supposely treated tires for our class yet no one will give us a price on them until I guess we show up at the track. Need to know how much to get a set the week before we run so I can mount them on the car. Have posted on here for months with no answer.
only the left side tires i have do it. the right sides do not. I looked and noticed there is a difference in the tires. The left sides do not have raised goodyear letters, just a square with yellow painted goodyear. the right sides have goodyear painted over raised good year letters.
Is Goodyear capable of producing a good race tire in any series any more?
Tony Stewart may have been villified after Atlanta, but his comments were right on the money. Anywhere there is tire competition they get their ass handed to them.
some folks would pay for tires that loose pressure through the sidewall. I know they caught some guys drilling the sidewalls with very small bits because they couldnt use bleed offs.
Drilling a tire instead of bleedoffs…thats just wrong. Long cautions mean flat tires…:sprachlos020:
Use nitrogen instead of air. Less expansion with heat.

that was the story going around the pits about Burton and Harvick a couple of years ago. but they were supposed to be using lasers to punch microscopic holes, NOT DRILL BITS.
was it true? i dunno. but Burton and Harvick have fallen off a bit.
now if we can just find some kind of cheating to accuse Johnson and Gordon of getting caught at …
LOL
It wasnt cup I was speaking of but I do remember that. I think it was a tire guy I was talking to at an ASA race. During tech they were spraying down the sidewalls of the tires.
Maybe it was a Hooters race hell I don’t remember.
