This may have been brought up before but what is up with 6 lap heats and 15 lap features. This might be okay for strictly stocks (no offense guys) that can race right out of the box but not for cars like late models that take a few laps for tires to come in, etc.
If you pull the wrong pill and start in the back even with only a 12 car field, you pretty much have to pass a car every lap to get to the front.
All these extremely short races do is tear up cars. From the start it’s a drag race to the finish. To see $20,000 to $50,000 late models get wrecked for a $300 payout is just not right.
Also get rid of the 6 lap heat races. They are another way to wreck cars for no reason.
I’m sure the fans love to see everyone wrecked in turn one but after a while you’ll have 2 or 3 cars in each class racing and then the fans will got away. They are already going away.
My suggestion is to qualify for every race and have a minimum 35 lap features like they do in Georgia and the Carolina’s. If you don’t want to qualify every race then pull a pill for starting position but give people a chance to race.
I’m sure real race fans would rather see 25 cars really racing then to see 6 cars wrecking.
I’m not even going to get into the payouts. I guess we’re lucky we get anything.
I agree 15 laps is not enough for a feature. I think that 25 to 30 lap feature for a regular show is good. Personnally I have won a lot of features over the years starting in the rear of the field of 18 to 20 cars and running 30 laps. I have always liked heat races, which I could see more of them here in Florida. Heat races can be 8 or 10 laps depending on how many cars in the race. If you only have 4 or 5 cars, then 8 laps is enough, but if you have 8 or 9 cars in the race you have to give them 10 laps. As you all probably know by now this would still be all run with a big inversion. Rick
At Auburndale a few years ago they stopped heats for LM’s. The little money and few points for weekly drivers was to costly for them. Of coarse within a year they stopped LM’s as a weekly feature because of lower and lower car counts in the LM’s.
I do agree that 15 lap races are not enough to pass cars, especially if inversions are in place. Also as a driver, i want more track time. Racing is expensive and 15 laps of racing is like a woman getting her pants off, leaving undies on and telling you thats all you were gonna get. More laps will equal more cars.
I’ve always said that racing is more fun then sex.
I was associated with a track that had that hurry up and get it done with attitude. 8 lap heats and 16 lap features (running five division’s) no matter what the car count was. The eight lap heats were a good thing but ten would have been better. But sixteen lap features? Didn’t matter if there were six or sixteen cars. Racing started between six thirty and seven and done by nine forty five.
As a fan, I want to see more than three and a half hours of racing for my fifteen or twenty bucks.
I could be crude an tell ya’ll that all my race cars were “broke in”, but I won’t. But I will tell you that all my cars always had a “sweet SPOT”!!!:huepfen024::engel016:
