Opening Night @ Pcs Was A Huge Success

Opening night at Putnam County Speedway was huge success, under the new managers. Just a few small bumps, but over all it was great. Good car count in all classes for opening nite. Great crowd on hand also. The last checkered flag was waved at 10:55. Wow what a night.

The hobby stock division saw a real barn burner of a race between Grady Christian and David Miller Jr, before Miller had heating problems. At the drop of the green flag you could have bit nails all the way to the elbow and still is guessing who was going to win, and while that was going on up front, Bubba Christian was doing battle with Chad Scranton and Robert Hicks for the 3rd spot. It was definitely a guess that was going to and finishes the top 3 spots all 15 laps. But, at the end Grady Christian came home the winner followed by Scranton and Hicks in 3rd.

In the Sportsman seen a familiar face in victory lane that of Kevin Mills, at the drop of the green flag Mills took the lead and never looked backed, but on the other hand the 2nd spot battle between Jacky Jo Bennett and Mark Kinley was a very heated one. Scranton doing double duty driving the 17s car, after just finishing a race was back under the gun again, but with checkered flag waving the air it was Bennett taking the 2nd spot and Kinley 3rd.

Late model division seen a south GA racer take home the honor that of JO Nobles, but sure wasn?t given to him as local driver Billy Costello from Satsuma was all over the rear bumper of Nobles for all 25 laps. As Costello settled for 2nd spot, David Crews from Jags, Fl took 3rd.

Now the pure stock division was sure uncontested, as Jarrid Bennett took the lead was gone and pull away from the field as the caution came out on the 9th lap bunching everyone back up, but once again the green flag back out Bennett stood on the gas took the win with no problem, James Strehle came in second but was later Dq’ed in Tech which put Jonathan Green in 2nd and George Whitehill brought home the third spot.

Our 4 cylinder bomber class 16 cars take the green and was the Sullivan Brothers doing battle with Art Souther all 15 laps, Souther pulled the win out and Rick Sullivan in 2nd and Sullivan took 3rd.

Again many thanks to Clarence Smith and Mike Budka for a great job done, along with the entire staff, sees everyone next week?
