V8 STOCKCAR SERIES RACECAR ENGINEERING SEBRING SPRINTS
V8 StockCar racers return to familiar ground Labor Day weekend when they return to what could be considered the “Home Track,”
for the RACECAR ENGINEERING SEBRING SPRINTS.
All three class point leaders are expected; Dave Machavern in V8 GT-1, Lee Arnold in V8 SPO and Tony Amico in V8 GTA. Machavern, fresh from a win and new track record at Daytona will bring his Heritage Motorsports Corvette and if track conditions are favorable we could see another standard fall to the well prepped rocket from the Riggins Engineering shop. Arnold, back in action after sitting out Daytona, looks to get back in the groove at the track he loves to race on. Arnold’s ex Boris Said South West Tour Monte Carlo seems to really work on the 3.5 mile circuit. Tony Amico, has had a stellar year so far and leads the V8 GTA class over team mate Tom “Hollywood” Graham. Both race cars are prepped in the shop of Florida Short Track hero, Jimmy Cope. Also expected, are 2007 V8 GTA champ Jay Marshall whose car is prepared by another Florida racing legend, Jimmy Cope’s brother, Mike. Daytona V8 SPO winner Larry Hoopaugh will be on hand in his ex Bob Schacht ARCA Monte Carlo. Hoopaugh, a three time NASCAR Dash Series champ, got his win in his first weekend road racing against one of the largest fields in V8 StockCar history.
The racing weekend is Sanctioned and presented by the Central Florida Region SCCA and a big field is expected to battle the heat and the Historic 12 Hour Course.
