Its Saturday Sep 6,2008 At 4:30 Pm…we Just Got Off The Phone With Bronson Motor Speedway…we Are Local Racers There And Have Been For Years…at The End Of Last Year I Was Told Personally By The Owner Of The Tracks Wife That They Were Gonna Support There Locals Drivers…well We Havent Been To The Track Yet This Year Cause The Work Has Been Slow And Its Been A Slow Process Gettin The Car Together…well We Finished It And Took It To The Bronson Speedway To Practice At 4 Pm To See How The Car Was Gonna Even Do…well It Turned Out For The Worst We Broke A Transmission And Drive Shaft…so We Braught Her Home Got All Of That Fixed And Now 2 Weeks Later We Get Her Loaded Back Up Wanting To Go Back To The Track To Race Since We Already Paid $100.00 Dollars For Our Bands 2 Weeks Ago That We Were Gonna Use Tonight Since We Broke Before The Track Even Opened To All Racers To Practice…so We Called The Track And Were Told No We Could Not Race Off The Money We Already Paid 2 Weeks Ago That If They Did That To Everyone They Would Go Broke…we Understand That But Not Even Gettin To Get On The Track And Them Keep Our Money Sucks…me And My Husband Have Decided We No Longer Will Be Coming To Bronson Motor Speedway Cause They Do Not Support There Local Drivers…you Would Think They Would Want To Support The Local Drivers Since They Only Have About 20 Cars Total In The Pit Area To Make It A Better Race For People To See…we Had Family Comin To Watch Us Tonight And They Would Have Made Money Off There Bands But Were Not Racin So There Not Going…
Other Side
I race at Bronson, Sportsman class. A few things I don’t get about your story. Practice starts at 5:30pm, not 4pm. If you broke taking it off the trailer, whose fault is that? Two weeks ago Bronson was rained out, without even opening the gate. How is it that it’s the tracks fault that you broke in practice, and think you should get in free a few weeks later. I’m not defending the tracks decision, but I like racin’ there and have always been treated “very” well. Also, the car count is higher than what you stated.
I don’t think any track would have acted any different than Bronson…JMO

Glad you race, cause you sure got BALLS
I’ve got to agree with you Jim. They only charged you for the pit passes for that night’s racing and you had your own personal test session. It’s not the tracks fault that your car broke. Did you stop by the office on your way out and explain your situation with management or did you just assume that they are there to serve you?
Sorry, but I’m on the tracks side on this one. At most tracks, it’s $200-$300 minimum just to rent the track. You should be happy that it only cost you $100 and you could have watched the races also.
Just to let you know, I don’t go there or race there. Actually I don’t even care for the place. I think the track did nothing wrong except to let a crybaby like you ruin there generosity for all the other racers.
Your situation is not unique , but maybe it could have been handled a little better by the the management at Bronson . Sometimes it’s best to bend a little . But they decided not to , and thats their right . Don’t stop racing . In fact , don’t stop racing at Bronson . You built a car , use it . Racers are going to have to support their local race tracks , because things are pretty grim right now for a lot of track owners . Keep racing . Promotors tricks and touring series aren’t going to save stock car racing . Local racers showing up to the tracks every week is what will save racing .
I hit the wall at NSS one night on my second lap of practice during an open practice night and tore a bunch of stuff up. DAMN, I didnt even think to ask for my $20 back. All kidding aside, its a risk you take every time you race. Would you have wanted your money back if you broke during a heat race? Maybe I dont understand your post.
I like Bronson and hopefully the SSS will get them back on the schedule for next year.
Ed, were you at columbia Last Sat? I was there in the early afternoon taking some pictures. Bob…
No, I wanted to help Mike out but I had a VERY busy day at the office. Hopefully I can debut my new car soon. Waiting on the body to get painted. I have heard “next week” 7 times now. If its not done this week I will do it myself.
Just The Facts Mam…
Usually I do not respond to criticisms on this board, however since someone above suggested the track could have “bent” a little, I decided to tell all the true facts.
Mr. Wilkerson called me several weeks ago and asked if he could get a few laps in, however could not afford to rent the track for an hour. I advised Mr. Wilkerson that if he brought his car to the track between 2 and 4 PM on Saturday PRIOR to the Pit Gate Opening (He lives in Bronson so it was not a long trip) I would allow him to take a couple of laps to be sure his car was good. He did not show up however until almost 5 PM, and the Pit Gate was now open, therefore he had to pay the Pit Pass fee. He then had trouble in practice and left. He could have stayed and watched the races.
So we did “bend” to help Mr. Wilkerson, however he chose not to follow through with the program. We work hard to take care of all our Racers that support local racing. I feel terrible when someone breaks during practice, heats or even the feature. But the track cannot give money back or let every one in free that has problems, it is not feasible.
As I stated, I usually do not respond to the keyboard whippers, and maybe it is a compliment to us that we have not been bashed much, or maybe it shows the caliber of people who posted the partial truths above.
As always, THANKS RACERS AND RACE FANS!

Thanks Tommy
As Paul Harvey would say: “And now you know…the rest of the story”.

Hey Jim, LOL, you beat me too it.
I also would have accepted a visual like this:
Different tracks and Promotors have differing views on whether or not to give
freebies to racers . CCMP apparently feels its worth it ( see Darrens’ post ) , Bronson apparently feels it isn’t . No track can be blasted for not giving away money , not in this economy . But no racer can be blasted for trying to make ends meet .
Excuse me AJ. CCMP doesn’t give anything away for free. They REWARD drivers from other tracks who take the time, effort and expense to race at there home track , then beat feet to CCMP to race there on the same night.
Now, pertaining to this thread, Why should Bronson give them free entry 2 weeks later? Bronson tried to be nice and give them a few laps. They showed up late [according to Bronson post], broke and then went home. This was done while Bronson was trying to conduct business for the night. Bronson did more than what they should have, in my opinion.
