That’s great about Fascar’s lowering gate prices, let’s compare purses so I can lower my gate to.

I need someone to list all of their purses or Fascar to list them so we can compare Apples to Apples then I can adjust mine to help all of the races out, OWM, Street Stock, Mod Mini, Sportsman, Bombers, ect,ect, that’s only fair or any other track to list theirs. Oh and points money at end of the year to,other track owners said I was paying too much so I did cut it back for 08.

I am just trying to find ways to compare tracks and then see where we need to be,thanks again John Sarppraicone ,This is only a question so don’t shoot me .

John, I work at a manufacturing business. When my competitor advertises a lower price, I can’t ask them what their expenses are. The customer is not interested in a discussion of expenses, they only want the best deal. I think you’ll find that racers think the same way.

I don’t know if this helps but fascar does not charge for a pit slab and has never asked for a tire stamp fee.

I think its great that you are coming on here and trying to help racing and solve some of the on going problems.

Take me for example. I dont mind getting a small pay out, I race because I love the sport. I would race for free if my at the track expenses werent so high. I dont like having to pay the high pit entry fees, tire stamping fees, pit slab fees, min 5 gallons of fuel fee and whatever else that can be stacked on top of it. Dont get me wrong, its nice to get a some back but that is not why I race. The cost of racing is why I dont race at times.

Sorry you missed the point ,If you are a racer don’t you ask how much does it pay’s to win racers call me all the time. I am not asking about expenses ,would you like the whole state paying the same, it seems to me someone is hiding something.

Some one just said we schould have the same tire’s, fuel,coke,hot dog’s,beer, ect,ect.Your right I will sign off on anything you can make these tracks and promotors agree on. I will put my pay off up I don’t have a problem with it,all you want to do is throw knives at everyone , remember I just asked a question don’t take it personal. Thanks again John Sarppraicone

JoHn I was at the superlate meeting and I can tell you your track or any other came up in the meeting. The meeting was for FASCAR tracks OSW and NSS. They lowered there prices for no other reason to help the racers and try and increase the car and fan count. If you wanted to do it to I think that would be great and might bring out more cars and fans.

Your first post sounded like you were implying that FASCAR’s payout is less, so they could better afford to lower thier admission. It appeared to me that you wanted to emphasize that your track has a better payoff by comparison.

If you think lowering your gate will help your business, please go ahead and do it, but don’t make it conditional on how your competitors do business. Do what is best for DSS.

John they don’t pay much $200.00 to win mod mini 15 laps (orlando, New Smyrna) worst payout in the state. $300.00 at citrus 20 laps payoff drops fast. I don’t know what the other classes pay but not much. I would rather pay you $30.00 to get in and race for 50 laps and $700.00 to win. Please don’t change your payout more cars will come when they see the payouts.
What we really need is a tire purchase rule per race.

Nobody in this post is throwing knives, nothing has been taken personal as far as I can tell. I am sorry that other racers call and ask what the pay outs are all the time. That is one thing that I have never done and never will.
Now I can understand racers wanting to know what the payout are if they have to pay alot of $$$ just to race. I dont have an answer for you on the payouts, I just take whatever winnings that I have, smile, say thank you and leave. If your taking offense to my comment on the cost of racing upon arrival to the track, pit slabs and tire stamps then I am sorry I think those are BS charges and thats my opinion. Just trying to help with an honest racers point of view.

We need more drivers like you that understand that this is a hobby, tracks need to make a living to survive. Purses is what really drives up expenses but if I can lower mine to everyone else’s standards us track owners would be alble to survive and make money.

Other issues are insurance does all of the tracks have 500,000 medical , you need to ask different track’s, I bet you some have the basic coverage. I try to have the best for everyone, again this is not about any one track it is apples to apples. Hey ED I would like you to come sometime and race at our track and I have 2 pit passes for you. Thank you John, hopefully I can make it down there soon. One of the problems is that racers take this too serious and spend too much money therefore they expect too much from the payouts. There is no reason in the world for sportsman drivers to be spending $20,000+ on a car or buy new tires every week.
Dont get me wrong, its nice to get some back but racers need to understand that they are not going to get rich racing.

Yes OSW and NSS don’t have the greatest payouts but it’s been like that for along time it’s not like it happened over night. It’s still good they are having meetings and trying to help the racer out. As far as payouts go there are alot of tracks that post there payouts on there websites not in Florida but outside of Florida. I’m sorry I’m one of the drivers that would like to know. I have never called and asked but it would be nice to know. DSS seems like a nice speedway only been there a couple of times to help out on a LLM. Never raced there but looks like a fun track.

Yes A Fun Track

My last race at DSS was about 4 years ago with the SSS. We had about 40 Sportsmans show and had to qualify to run only 28. I made the field and had a great time. My current car is more of a LLM than Sportsman so no more SSS racin’. Hoping this next year can be different if John gets the rules OK’d for us all to run together. Looking forward to it even with the long haul(138 miles each way). :slight_smile:

John… I don’t believe you understand the reasons for the change in their (FASCAR’s) entry fees… The reason that they changed the fees was to help out the racer’s, racer’s crews, and the fans due to the difficilt economic times we are experiencing…

Now you also must understand that this will actually HELP to increase profitability and
payouts due to the increased amount of FANS, racers, racer’s crews etc…

It would be great to see increased payout’s, but as a business person and a racer, I would much rather see more cars and fans and then payouts.

One must also realize that increasing profitability for a track is what you are seeking, but to do that YOU need a couple of things CONSISTENTLY.
one is racers, without them at the track providing a good quality show for the second required part… That is FANS… (hint… that is the the truly important part because that is where you as the track ownership/management makes your money…) You really don’t make money off the racers directly…

not until you have a consistent amount of racers coming week in week out drawing your fans in will you break even and make money off the racers…

Danbury Racearena in CT ran their show entirely on a percentage basis… 60% in the purse, 40% to the track. The place was packed with both cars and fans every week, and the payouts were huge.

Not saying that this is the answer, but if it’s a good week, the racers and the track both do well. On a bad week, they all take the hit together.

Reducing the pit entrance fee and grandstand fee was done entirely to help the racers and fans. There are alot of cars out there in backyards just sitting and going to rust buckets because the person who owns that car simply can’t afford to race. Before anyone can even think about working on purses, you have to have racecars and fans for the show.

I work in a pit office and I have worked in the office and I will say I have never gotten that many calls on purse payouts. When I have been asked, I have given them gladly and at times even posted them on the web. Most racers know purses are never what they need them to be but racers want to race and sometimes the purse is not the biggest deal to them. Some will gladly race for trophys only just to race.

I have been asked if we charge a pit slab fee which we don’t and I have been asked if we charge for parking which we don’t. A few years back we did sell/rent pit slabs for the year but it caused more headaches than anything because when a special tour came in, they would sometimes take that spot (they were not charged for it) and it caused too many hard feelings and a giant parking problem so out when that idea. We found ourselves chasing around looking for parking spots for the tour and keeping the regular people happy which is sometimes hard to do when it comes to parking and racing.

Lowering the pit gate will help. It might not be this weekend or next weekend, but in the long run it will help. And having a set price for general admission is a positive for all fans. No longer will they have to guess what it costs for a race, they will know. But nothing new works overnight, it takes time but I think in the end, you will see a very positive reaction from this.

The biggest point of all of this is that FASCAR is trying and they are listening to the racers and what they need to do to help both the racer and the track.
Yes John, tracks need to make money but in order to do that you first must have racers and fans. Once that happens, then purses can go up and I have seen purses change in the last few years also so there have been changes in payouts.

At least they are trying and that to most counts more than anything. And for that, I applaud FASCAR for trying because the one thing racers complain more about is that no one ever listens to them and now they are.

I firmly believe this will help. I will not spend $60 to get into the pits for me and my wife, so when I came into the pits this year, I came alone. At times I wouldnt even go into the pits by myself because I didnt want to spend $30. However I will spend $40 for me and my wife. The tracks will make more money from me and it wont cost them any more to do so.

I have asked numerous times on this board for ALL tracks to post there payouts…to no avail! Skip brought up out of state tracks that have payouts posted on the websites. I have never understood why a track would not. If a racer is looking to find a different track to race at he will probably like to know what his costs vs take home might be.

John, please post your payouts and maybe the other tracks will follow.
