Nov. 8 - Dustin Chisholm wins at DSS! - Desoto Champ Kart Series

(Series Website: http://www.DesotoChampKartSeries.com )

It was the closest finish in series history, at (possibly) the country’s fastest karting oval, the 3/8 mile high-banked oval of Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, FL! And when the feature ended, a first-time winner had etched his name into the Desoto Champ Kart Series record book!

Fourteen champ karts came to Desoto Super Speedway to take their shot at winning the race sponsored by:

Two drivers made their series debut last night. Young Bo Howard, an accomplished dirt racer, came to Desoto Super Speedway in his sharp-looking #88 champ kart. Bo is sponsored by Transportation Specialists, Anthony F. Infante - Orthopedic Surgeon, BH Graphics and Howard’s Lawncare. Also making his debut was Marty Riefner, driving a back-up kart for series veteran Andy Whah.

Thanks to all of the sponsors for their support of the Desoto Champ Kart Series!

And once again, the Champ Karts filled the cover of the track program, with a full page color promo featuring pictures of the top ten drivers in points, and the logos of the series sponsors, along with a special Tribute for Veterans Day.

Two heat races were run, with the odd pill draws running the first heat, and the even pill draws running the second heat.

The first heat was won by Andy Whah, with soon-to-be 2008 Desoto Super Speedway Late Model Points Champion Dustin Chisholm inches behind in second, followed by JD Cordon in third.

The second heat was won by Romay Venta, with Bo Howard scoring an impressive second, followed by Rance Williams in third.

The feature rolled out onto the track at approximately 8:00pm. Champ kart family and crew could be seen waving and cheering from the pit grandstand as the field circled the track for it’s pace laps!

After one unsuccessful attempt to the start the race, the field took the green flag, with Victor Peters-powered “twins” JD Cordon and Dustin Chisholm quickly moving to the point.

As the race unfolded, four karts hooked up at the front, and started to pull away. They were JD and Dustin, followed by Andy Whah and Alan McKinney.

With approx. 5 laps to go, Andy Whah moved to the point in his Dover Power machine, and appeared headed to his first DCKS win of 2008. However, when the two-to-go signal was given, JD Cordon and Dustin Chisholm began to put the pressure on…

When the white flag flew, JD took the lead coming off of turn two, with Dustin pushing from behind. When they came through turns three and four, Dustin dipped below JD as they headed towards the finish line.

At the checkered flag, noone could tell whether JD or Dustin had won… Finally, after consulting the electronic scoring sheets, it was determined that Dustin Chisholm had won his first career DCKS victory by the incredible margin of .001 seconds!!!

Congratulations to Dustin Chisholm on claiming his first Desoto Champ Kart Series win!!

IN ADDITION to the feature winners trophy and winners payout, Dustin Chisholm also collected a Free Clutch Rebuild from Gecker Motorsports at http://geckermotorsports.com!
