Todd hutto announces a new Sprint Series, with full cooperation among the Promoters of Ocala Speedway, North Florida Speedway, Volusia Speedway Park and East Bay Raceway.
Each track will get 2 shows each, a point fund for the traveling series, and a common rule book for all 4 tracks.
Now THIS is a big step in the right direction, and will now put N. Fla on my 'must see" list for 2009. It’s one of the few tracks around I’ve never been to. That WILL change next year!
Congrats, not to mention a HUGE Thank You to all the Promoters involved. If they can do with Sprints like Ken Kinney has done with Late Models, Florida Dirt fans could have a fantastic year!

This is great news hopefully they will be working together on rules for weekly classes in their support divisions as well!Do you think we will ever see four asphalt tracks work together?
This is a great step in the right direction I agree. Its something I’ve been lobbying for for months now. Let’s hope the tracks & teams can come up with a fair set of rules that will bring 30 and 40 car shows like earlier this year!
Frasson, you’ll enjoy North Florida. Its a fast 4/10th mile track. And Phil & Liz G. work hard to improve it and keep it going.
Not only a new Sprint class, but Don Rheems is going to head it. Don was the glue that held the TBARA together from its inception. He will have the class
humming in no time. Todd also said the consortium of promoters are planning on doing the same with the Modifieds next. My hats off to Todd and his group.
I have advocated for years that all tracks in a general area should have a rule package where you could run in your class any wher you wanted. I have known over the years several instances where promoters and track owners said they were going to work together but it never happened. Just think, why should a track care about the rules, as long as they are safe and are adhered to. The only reason I can think of is money. They want to keep them at their track and sell them fuel and tires. I have attended a lot of meetings where the drivers were told they would make their own set of rules. In every instance,I can remember, they were distorted when they were posted or changed during the year. Just my two cents. Good luck to These 4 tracks and to Don. Maybe other owners and promoters will take notice of this move and see it work and work it will if they stick to their guns. Thanks Bob,
North Florida is a nice little track . I raced there right after Mike Partin saved the place . I can’t help but wonder why there are only four tracks involved in the new series . What about Hendry County ? What about Putnam County ? For that matter , what about Brunswick ? Didn’t they want to join , or weren’t they asked ?
This is great news! I am really excited about this news. Are we running Limited or 360? 2-barrel or 4-barrel? Is Eastbay going to 4-barrels next year? I am getting my plans together now for 2009. I love running at Eastbay and would lovbe to run at the other tracks. I will stay tuned for more info. Please keep the info coming.
AJ14 the rumor is that Hendry County might be shutting down again. Just a RUMOR. As for Putnam County they are run as a club basically. And they (JMO) don’t seem interested or set-up to have “special events.” The funny thing is that both tracks are a great size for close sprint car racing.
Rules wise,I think it will have some combination of East Bay (carbs) & FSCA (injected) rules incorporated.
As far as the rules, everyone should be in contact with Don. He has great plans for organizing the various factions of the limited sprint cars and will be the point of contact about the rules.
Also don’t forget that the Top Gun Sprint Car series will be making its debut at Volusia Speedway on December 13 as part of the Convention Holiday Classic. This will be a great night featuring the Sprint Cars and the FL Mini-Sprints.
