David Rogers gets 6th place, on the lead lap. Great job David!

Now comes the Nazi-like Tech inspection!

Amen to that, it was a hard fought race for Rogers. After his spin, they pitted numerous time to repair the overflow. he ran smart, fast when it mattered and patient.

anderson was PISSED! I haven’t seen him that hot in a while. he walked into enfingers pit (which was the first one at the end right by the wreck) and was ready to tear someone a new one. they had one dude who thought he would try and then they got seperated by officials.

johanna long had the hardest hit of the day headon into the flat part of the wall by the pit gate in two. I thought she was hurt. it was bad.

Ickler had the fastest car all day, grill was close but ickler really ran a great race, his car was a rocket. wonder how he would have qualified.

if sieg makes it through tech it will be a minor miracle,e got rejected three times in prerace tech and they just bandaided the fixes, guarantee you they don’t measure on the deck and roof.

hard to type on the phone, but it was a great race.

Ickler DQ’d.Grill wins for now.

i am definitely gonna want to see for what. giving it to augie does seem a bit suspicious, especially with all that went on with kyle last year. unless it is something blatent there will be fallout from this.

alot of talk about brooks havnig favorites etc, but we will see. he did bust augie the other night too.

Ickler was using brake blowers.

The rule book reads:

3.NO BLOWERS OR HOSES WILL BE ALLOWED TO BLOW AIR ON TIRE OR WHEEL

http://5flagsspeedway.com/ruleslatemodel.php

pretty clear cut, but i have two problems:

1 - I saw several cars with ductwork blowing on the brakes this am while the tires were still impounded, leaving a clear view
2 - all of those cars and ickler cleared tech this morning.

no doubt he was in violation, but it seems like they must have known that he and others were illegal prior to the race. I have always been a fan of brooks but the stories posted elsewhere have definitely got me questioning the ‘evenhandedness’ of his approach.

nobody would try to sneak this sort of thing by, it is obvious they would get caught. and I wonder if brooks leaves some grenades in the field on purpose.

Is there any advantage to having air blowing on the tire, not so much the brakes but the tire itself? The rule 3.NO BLOWERS OR HOSES WILL BE ALLOWED TO BLOW AIR ON TIRE OR WHEEL is under the tire section of the rules not the brakes section. If that is the case could it be he had the air blowing at the tires instead of the brakes. I know this may sound like a stupid question but I’m a dirt guy so the whole concept of brake blowers is foreign to me.

Rick

That wouldn’t be something that would be looked for in pre race tech. There are certain things they check. If they did a total thorough check of 130 cars, they would never get them all teched!

How would something so obvious and easy to see not be included in tech ? If spectators noticed ( see above post ) then why didn’t the tech guys ? Something funny is going on here . And this is far from the first time that Brooks motives have been questioned . By the way , thats a pretty strange rule .

Maybe they installed them after tech ?

I hear ya on the time it would take snowball. only problem is they have the hoods off anyhow looking at the carbs. glance a foot to the left or rght and see if there if there is a big piece of ductwork.

I am all for being a stickler for the rules and ignorance of the rules is no excuse, but to have had that car through tech several times over the weekend, including winning the last chance just seems like bs to me. yes, they could have put it on just for the derby and if they did, they should have consulted someone.

now if someone is fudgin heights, weight or sometrhing not so obvious - I say hang em and make them run the consi - unlike when grill was dq’d he got to keep a provisional.

either way the kid drove his ass off all weekend and never had a bad thing to say or said about him. outshined haase big time.

this don’t have any thing to do with derby

but i went to a ten thousand to win street stock induro race once now all cars were suppose to have stock springs stock shocks and tires had be same size on all four corners .

now they had some fine super late model drivers in some of them cars and when they dove off in corners you could tell how stock they were out of field of cars there were ten of them that could run with super late models today

so after the race they pulled the painted shocks and the afco racing springs and all the goodies off the first five cars and payed the six place car and never even looked at his car

was that right did they check the cars first no just time trial them and took the fastest i don’t remember how many oh yea it was a good race was it fair

How many times is this race going to be decided in the tech shed? This is getting out of control at this point.

I’m all for the enforcement of rules and it generally seems that most of your Florida based teams get it right, but it’s at the point now where the winner takes the chekered flag and you know they won’t be keeping it.

Here is the link to the article in the Pensacola News Journal. It has some comments from Ricky Brooks and Tim Bryant. About it being suspicious that Augie was given the win. He had one of the Blizzard races taken away from him earler in the year due to a rules violation. Eddie Mercer, Scott Carlson and Jr Niedecken have all had tech issues too, so I truly don’t believe there is any favoritism. Allm I can say is that the strict enforcement of the rules must be working ! Just look at the Blizzard series!

I was there all weekend raclng,we were pitted next the 15 car on sunday. We all had our tires off to clear the pits of any other tires, and get our race tires.they were the last car to take there tires off,and did not seem to crazy about everyone looking at the car.I could see the blowers mounted under the frame rail on the right front, and pointing at the right front tire. they had painted them black and I dont think you could see them with the car on the ground. Our tires were 195"degrees after a 30 lap run,so if anyone thinks it not an advantage I"d have to disagree. its a shame that a team with the best of everything can be that dumb!!they had the car and a great driver, but a dumb a$$ crew chief. The rules apply to us all,and Ricky B.has proven he dont care if its a1/4 inch low or 1/2 a percent of left side.we all know when we get there,we better be right!!The guy has no favorites, just a job to do.so say what you want, the man is fair, just make sure your car is right (like all the top five were, but kyles)boo woo! So I guess money can’t buy every thing, cause they sure tried!! Great race, and great tech, thats the way racing should be!!Augie won with out the cup support and 15 engineers. cause his car was legal and fast.He won in tech, same place he got d,q for being low after qualifying.Go figure!! turn left

well if they were trying to hide them that is insane, this guy doesn’t let fractions of an inch and fractions of % weight slide. how the hell did they think they would get that through? that was the part that was so unbeleivable to me, it is a blatant type of thing. but if they were checked for earlier and then they put them on later - they got what they deserved.

Where did the rest of the results go? It may be that its early but I have looked all up and down for them for the last 30 minutes.
