Volusia Speedway Park Kicks Off 2009 With “January Jump-Start”

After just a short break from racing action, Volusia Speedway Park is again kicking things into high gear for the start of the 2009 racing season. Volusia Speedway Park will be hosting the ?January Jump-Start? on the weekend of January 23rd to the 25th featuring $2500 to win main events for the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Street Stock divisions.

An Open Practice for all divisions starts out the January Jump-Start weekend on Friday, January 23. Pits will open at 5:00pm with practice running from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Pit admission is $15. Grandstand admission will be free for the practice night.

On Saturday, January 24, the pits will open at 4:30pm. Grandstand gates open at 5:30pm. Racing starts at 7:30pm featuring the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Street Stock qualifying heat races plus full programs for Thunder Stocks, 4-Cylinder Challengers, and Mini-Stocks. Mini-Stocks will race for $500 to win, Thunder Stocks for $350 to win and 4-Cylinder Challengers will be chasing a $250 winner?s check. Sportsman and Street Stocks will be working on starting positions for Sunday?s 40-lap Main Events paying $2500 each to win.

Racing action continues on Sunday, January 25 with consolation races and the 40-lap main events for the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Street Stock divisions. In addition, DIRTcar Modifieds will be in action with a full program ending in a 30-lap, $1000 to win main event. Pit and Grandstand gates will open at noon on Sunday with racing starting at 2:00pm.

DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Street Stock entry fees will be $75 per car.

Adult grandstand admission is $12 for each night of racing. A special $20 Adult 2-day ticket can be purchased on Saturday night. Students ages 11-15 will be admitted for $6 each night and children ages 10 and under will be admitted free. Drive-in parking is $10 per car ? 2 day drive-in parking pass is $15.
