Nice Gesture By Mark Martin

Mark Martin has pulled out his wallet and paid a sponsorship fee to Tommy Baldwin Racing, which will carry the markmartin.com logo on the C-post of the No. 36 Toyota this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. “I just wanted to help a fellow racer,” Martin said. “I think this is a great opportunity to get involved and I encourage others to follow my lead, including other drivers.” Martin is promoting his fifth Annual Fan Appreciation Day April 9-10 at Mark Martin Ford Mercury dealership in Batesville, Ark. Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and championship car owner Rick Hendrick will be on hand during the event to sign autographs and to participate in a Q&A session. Additionally, Sirius Satellite Radio and ESPN’s NASCAR Now will do live hits from the event. Baldwin threw his team together in the off-season and has plucked talented mechanics from the large NASCAR unemployment pool in the Charlotte, N.C., area. “I am very grateful that Mark is helping us jump start our Support Small Businesses of America program,” Baldwin said. “I think his support shows how much other people in this sport want us to be successful. I appreciate his help and I hope other businesses follow his lead to make this program successful.” It has to be noted that Martin drives a Chevrolet, owns a Ford dealership and is sponsoring a Toyota. He is singlehandedly trying to pull the car industry out of its doldrums.

Its great to see the racers helping each other . I wish it weren’t necessary , but there just isn’t enough sponsor money to go around . Maybe Tommy Baldwin can hang on long enough to land a good sponsor . Just another example of Mark Martin trying to make sure that deserving drivers and teams get a chance to show what they can do .
