Parts Plus USCS sprint cars Cordele Clash at the “Melon” has been postponed to Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm
Cordele, GA – March 27, 2009 - ”The Cordele Clash for the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series winged outlaw sprint cars at Watermelon Capital Speedway scheduled for Saturday, March 28th at 7:00pm has postponed until Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm. Due to the prediction of terrible weather on Saturday evening the decision was made to move the race to Sunday afternoon when clear weather and sunny sky are predicted and temperatures for a near perfect 70 degrees are predicted.
USCS Founder and President, Pete Walton said “We just thought this was the best we could do with the weather we have been given. Sunday afternoon looks like perfect racing weather. I’m excited because this is the first pavement race of the year for our guys and we have the best field of drivers coming to Cordele we have had at a USCS pavement event in three years. Lots of talent with some experienced asphalt veterans down to some exciting young drivers who are racing on the asphalt for the first time. It’s going to be both exciting and entertaining.” concluded Walton.
A field of twenty winged sprint cars has pre-entered for the paved track series season-opener. Additionally more teams have called and said they are coming now, since the race was moved to Sunday afternoon. The action packed event features the Parts Plus USCS winged Outlaw sprint cars testing the limits of Georgia’s fastest 3/8 mile paved oval at speeds expected to approach 140 miles per hour for the exotic cars. In addition to the Parts Plus USCS, the fans will be treated to a full program of racing action in the Watermelon Capital Speedway Super Street, Pure Stock, Mini Stock and Claimer divisions.
The racing program includes time trial qualifying, the Parts Plus Power Dash for the top six sprint cars, sprint car heat races, a B-Main if necessary and a 40-lap Parts Plus USCS sprint car A-Main. The four Watermelon Capital Speedway classes will run a full racing program of qualifying heats and feature races.
Pit gates will open at 10:00 am. The Spectator grandstands at Noon and racing action is at 2:00 pm.
