Many, many thanks to Mike Fettig for shooting hundreds of images at the kart track last week. In keeping with the laid back nature of the event, he has graciously offered to send the photo images at no charge, or print out professional copies “at cost”. Contact Mike for details and pricing.
I can assure you that Mike’s pix are 10 times better than the snapshots I take (like Chad’s portrait below).
I am still working on making the individual ones larger. I had intended that once you clicked on a thumbnail photo that it would open into a photo much larger than is happening. I am going to work on it some more after I get through at my day job.
He left pretty early on, absolutely disgusted that Billy Cuddy and then Timmy Walters were passing him with ease despite him taking it so seriously! I’m not sure he liked the rough driving either, as after a couple of races most people started ‘blocking’ him.
Can you tell I was having an absolute blast out there?
Those photos tell some great stories. I love the sequence that shows me turning T-Mac and leaving him stranded in the corner, but there’s another one there showing me being pushed out wide by Flraceguy and dropping 4 places back by the next lap. I’m so please Mike was there to capture all these shenanigans for posterity.
FWIW I think the person having even more fun out there was Jarret Korpi. I love how he’s been captured here right at the moment of impact - look at the grimace on his face from the hit!
I am glad you all are enjoying them. It kills me though to see them too small to see the details. Even if I have to start over I am going to try and fix that by tonight.
90% of the photos had a 1200 pixel width but somewhere in between leaving Photoshop and my website uploading them they were reduced to 400 wide. There is an adjustment in the software to adjust the size they are viewed at but when I increase it, it resets to 400. I am going to create another gallery when I get home with only a few and see where I went wrong, then hopefully fix the big gallery.
Do you still have the files on a card? I had that happen to a file a couple months ago. I still don’t know what happened. I ended up dumping them back in the computer and starting over. Worse last month We sold 2 8x10’s and when I went to print them the file size was way small. The largest size I could get was a 4x6 and it looked pretty good. I still owe that dude 2 8x10s. Thankfully I know him and he is alright with it. The worse part is it was his first win of the 2009 season. Don’t that just figure??? Bob…
Ok, I took the advice and started over with the whole gallery. I made the thumbnail images bigger and the individual images larger as well. Thanks for everyone’s patience.
Now the whole world can see the photo that tells the true story of Litte 500 night in all its glory. Everything you need to know about the night is contained in just this one image:
Frassons kart was leaking beer in the groove and I hit a patch of it.
I had to ask that track worker why the hell he was wearing red knee socks.
Ocala Jim had his turn signals on the whole time and it confused me.
There was a little bunny hopping on the track and I swerved to miss her.
I was looking for the “E-Pass” lane.
Travelin’ Troy, Flyin’ Ryan, Jeanette and Shotsberger all worked me over for 20 laps until finally one of them succeeded in turning me half way around. Pathetic.
My rear wing came loose and I lost all traction.
The phone was ringing.
I sacrificed the lead so that my son could beat flraceguy and Andy.
There was an urgent need to whine about that jerk with the gloves.
Not quite! Here is the true story:

I hope I made this situation clear.
