Daytona repaving

There is a nice story on the repaving of Daytona International Speedway for those who are interested.

re-paving

Was very similar at the Salem and Winchester Speedways in Indiana, super high-banks, and very difficult to pull off.

If ISC really wanted to make a bundle, truck in some Iowa gumbo and make Daytona the world’s largest dirt track! Turn Kinser, Swindell and the boys loose on it and have some fun!!!

Dirt ?

Doesn’t matter if they put dirt down or not.
Saw Kinser and Swindell on Daytona asphalt back in the mid 80’s.
They were both sideways fairly often.
Kinser was in Kenny Bernstein’s Quaker State car,
but I can’t remember if Swindell was in the 27 car or not.
Anyway, it seems that Dave Blaney is the only one that
could make the transition work.

Dang Beavis, Unless you’re just referring to WoO champions, you better hope that Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Casey Kahne and a few other sprint standouts don’t take offense. BTW, heard that Blaney’s actually gonna race a few races this year and not just start and park.
To get back on topic, that is an interesting article on the paving. Anyone know where Lane Contractors are out of? Use to be an outfit in NY with that name.

[SIZE=“4”]Lane is based out of Connecticut with
Field Offices / Operations all over the S.E.

We managed to pick up a few of their local HEO?s for
projects in Polk County back in 06? when they wrapped up
the I-4 expansion at the Kathleen Road Exit in Lakeland.
