Quite possibly the longest Dave Steele interview ever.

My little website recently interviewed “The Man of Steele” for almost two hours at his speed shop in Tampa, talking about:

  • How he got his start in open wheel racing.
  • How he ended up leaving Florida and hitting the USAC trail.
  • What his favorite USAC win was.
  • The night he left the Steve Lewis ride after finding another driver getting strapped into his car.
  • His favorite tracks during the USAC years.
  • His take on his dirt sprint car outings.
  • The time he spent at Panther Racing and what it was like to drive around Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
  • Where did it all go wrong in NA$CAR.
  • The current state of affairs in Florida.
  • And much, much more!

And for those with a keen eye you would have seen Dave at the Turkey Night Grand Prix working on a Steve Lewis midget driven by Kyle Hamilton. You just might see Dave back in some USAC races next year as well…

Anyway, here is the link to the podcast/interview.

This is a great interview. Thanks for posting!

Thanks!

That was a lot of fun for us. I’ve been a huge Dave Steele fan for quite some time, so I was really pleased with how long he talked and how well it turned out.
