i was invited by a friend to Dave and Carol Pletchers… OMG!!! he had a live band from 7 am til the next day!!! he had BBQ pits everywhere with every kind of meat you can think of, cooked to perfection!!! all kinds of side dishes…coolers packed full of every kind of drink imaginable! more booze than ive ever seen at a private gathering. lol and the greatest bunch of people around! they had card games going and dancing and lots of eating… i will never forget that night… was so much fun! Thanks carol, dave, and greg! i am forever blessed with your friendship and kindness and a wonderful memory…this yr. i will be lucky if i can stay awake long enough to watch the ball drop in NYC!!!

My wife and I usually throw a New Year’s Eve party. They are lively and lots of fun. One of the best was back in “Y2K”; remember when the year changed to 2000? We had over 100 guests, including a mob of kids who I sent on the wildest of goose chases.
We dug up a time capsule that was “buried by Col. Titus”, the namesake of our town. The kids had to follow instructions that were found in an old letter which was delivered by “the colonel’s estate”. They finally figured it out, located the capsule and dug it up in mad excitement. We excavated a historically accurate capsule full of artifacts that was so good it ended up on the front page of the local paper.
For the first time this year, my two oldest kids are doing most of the organization for the party. That ought to be interesting!
