Street Stock and Pure Stocks will also qualify and be inverted with a roll of the dice. Please make sure that your cars are within the new 2011 rule book for these races. No entry fee for either of these classes. Any of you that do choose to run the SS/PS figure 8 race also, will have to pay an additional $25 at the pit offiice, because you will be running in two classes that evening. We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season, and we hope to see you there on the 22nd.

This is all good stuff for slm racing but the UPS wieght rules are not
equilizing things but punishing slms. My opinion based on results from FAST.
But i agree NSS did need help for crates and llms.
The 119 crate car was the best car at citrus last spring but had trouble in traffic.

He was indeed the fastest car there Tom, but the fastest car hardly ever wins, as was the case on that day. I don’t think a crate car won any of the FAST races last year, they needed help every where. We ran a similar rule package last year in our local races. Supers were 2800, Limiteds 2700, and Crates 2650. It was pretty close, but the Supers still always won. I was never a big fan of the crate deal, but it looks like it’s here to stay, so I think this is what you will see going forward at most tracks.

What I am saying is that 2850 is too much to pay for an engine we can’t use.
I would do something different for power but I have had this spec engine since 2004 and even a crate motor right now cost about $14000 if you want the same one others are using. Yes I know they do not cost that much from chevy or ford but they have to come from hamner progressive or others to keep up.And they run at 2700. I have not run NSS but I have run all others and the restictor has not been off of my engine. The tracks are too worn to use the hp or to short.
I know the supers won alot but as you say the fastest car hardly ever wins. What I am saying is that a veteran slm drivers are hard to beat. Case in point Shel nut wins at pgs.
Last 2 races were with Mc gunnigal crate in his car.And he has also won with fl pro flatop eng.

Tom, the SLM still have the advantage. Power always wins out when it comes to being able to pass. We run a “bone stock” crate motor. Yes there are some out there. We were fast qualifier at the last Citrus race, rolled a big number and started like 10th. Had a hard time passing, you can get to them , even beside them but you can’t get passed them. Especially at NSS. We are competitive at Citrus, Auburndale and probably even Orlando but at NSS there is no chance. It will be interesting to see how the SLM do with the weight but now they have added more weight to the crates. The 2 barrell motors with the 40lb cranks probably have the best combination now.

You said it yourself ‘’ bone stock crate’’ you have a rare one.The crates that can run with anything but crates are not stock. What I am saying is that if you look at the list of Fast winners the cars are more equal than the drivers. The tracks in all but fla have figured out that you can’t make a 400 hp motor equal to a 620hp motor so they have a pro late class that gets a good car count if you look at 5 flags posts. Also at lanier. The straight slm shows at Nss and osw have had good car counts without combined anything.

Less than two weeks away:auto003:

What tires will the outlaw minis be using ? since we were told the new ribbed hoosiers wont be available by that date . and when might they be available ? by feb . 5th ? or after the season starts ? times running out .

I would ask Doug Hopper, I believe he run’s that series, we don’t make the rules for the OMM.

I think you misunderstood my question . when will the new ribbed 13 inch hoosiers be available for purchase ? would like to get them before the season starts feb 5th . thanks . will we be allowed to run our american racers if the hoosiers arent available ? or whats the plan ?

Are you running Mod Mini at Citrus or the Outlaw Mod Mini Series?

MOD -MINI . just would like to know what the plan is for feb 5th . or should we just throw a cover over em and forget about racin for a couple months ?

I think the confusion came when you asked about the “Outlaw” minis. That’s why John answered your question the way he did. He made a post on the Citrus board, stating that Hoosier sent 15 sets of tires to be used for testing at Citrus and Auburndale. It’s a new tire for Hoosier and they hadn’t started production of the tire as of last week. He stated he would pass along information as soon as he gets it. I know others are waiting for the tire also. Some need it to set up their new cars. Citrus did remove the Mod mini’s from the 22nd race because of the tire issue. I’m sure they’ll let you know what’s going on as soon as they know.

We were sent 15 tires to test, we will be testing them on 1/21. Because the track is leased from the fairgrounds, we can’t do any testing until the lease starts, which will be next weekend.

After contacting Hoosier, they are going to redesign the tire. The tire they sent us was not a true 8" wide tire, so they are retooling and adding width to the tire. The new wider tire will not be ready until March.

So for the start of the season we will have new Hoosier 13" slicks in the tire trailer for sale, A-dale is doing the same. We will allow cars to run the American Racer and the old Goodyear Treaded tire as well. After we come back from the fair break on April 9th, we will switch to the new grooved Hoosier tire if all goes to plan. So if you buy new Hoosier’s, please realize that after the fair break, you will no longer be able to run them. We will have the Hoosier 13" slicks the week before Feb 5th.

This is the most complete and accurate information that I can give at this time, as I get more info I will pass it along.

Thanks John ! at least we can race . granted the guys with money will buy the hoosier slicks and dominate for a few races but at least we can play and have some fun ! good deal ! see ya next saturday !

Practice Friday night 5 till 9!

Sounds like a great night. Too bad we have the NSS banquet that weekend…

John latest forcast from NOAA at 9:30am Wed is high of 57 low of 29 for sat how cold is too cold? 60 is about too cold for me. What is the call? I was coming with new car but 29 I don’t know. Let me and others know. Thanks Tom.

What I just looked at was a high of 60 and a low of 40 with a 10% chance of rain. We’re racing as long as we don’t get rained out, we called off last years race because it was going to be in the teen’s, we should be good this weekend.
