Sounds like it was a wild race. Steven Nasse started 8th, came to the lead, jumped a resart, was sent to the tail, and still came to the front. Nasse wins, with Russell 2nd… and then crashed together after the checkers.
David Rogers had a real hard crash. It was reported that a highway barrier he hit, was moved 8 feet by the impact!
Lots of torn up cars
3 Red Flag periods in the last 10 laps alone
Rest of the finish as soon as its posted
Yea…a lot of trashed cars. Looked like Rogers race to lose when Nasse got sent to the back. After the red Rogers car seemed off, everybody was going by. Looked to me from down in four that he cut in front of/into Kennedy causing that mess. It was an ugly wreck for sure tore up a lot of cars, glad all were ok. I was afraid Kennedy was goin roof first into the pit wall, that would have been bad.
Three observations,
1 - Tim Russell has been showing his ass lately for no good reason. Don’t know what’s gotten into him, but I have lost a lot of respect for him.
2 - Nasse can flat drive, a lot of folks don’t seem to like him, but man he drove the he’ll out of it tonight and the gov cup.
3- The jumping the green rule sucks. Not only for Nasse who clearly jumped but also in the mods Jason boyd barely jumped and gave it back, and was still penalized. The penalty is too severe, in boyds case he had led nearly the whole race with no chance of winning until he brought out his own caution, so he could then start at the back - but with four laps to go it was too late. They should give them one caution/no go then spend them back.
I agree that the caution rule is uncalled for. I understand the jumping thing but come on if no caution comes out then what you are scored last at the end of the race? I also agree with Tim showing is butt lately. I guess when you spend as much money as they do to be the big fish in the small pond it can be agrevating when you flat just get out run and out drove. I think the 51 as diffently got some driving skills and showed it tonight. I didn’t see what happen with Rogers but glad that everyone was alright.
From what I heard on the radio an official saw something break and Rogers left front turn hard left forcing him down into the path of Kennedy and the wall. I am glad to see Rogers, Kennedy, Bruns, and Clouser walk away since from where I was it all looked like hard hits.
I hope nothing like this happens during the Pete Orr Memorial race or we will be without some local favorites for Speedweeks. .
Nasse might have put on a driving show coming from the back but I need to keep reminding myself of his age after listening to some of the things he says on the radio. That is all I will say on that.
it sure was an interesting race… I have no qualms with Russell but was really surprised in how his driving style has been as of late… He tried several times blatantly to take a couple of cars out(from what it looked like from the pits)… But from my position (turn 3) in the pits I couldn’t see turn 2 and opinions are like Asses, everyone has one… I do know one thing, I was very glad to see the drivers up and going after the those wrecks; I bet there are some sore buggers this morning…
The caution thing is an interesting thing… I have no qualm about any driver being sent to the rear for jumping because it has not been done with any frequency up until recently . But they might want to try giving them one shot and after that one shot then throw him/her back to the back…
Nasse did show that he can be a good driver and he did well last night. I didn’t have a radio so I can’t comment on that part of it…
One thing that was interesting was the tech for the strictly stock race… It got mighty cold last night… I have to hand it to the folks that were there last night as well as the Officials. But was fortunate enough to get home without getting sick… Hell I didn’t even drink enough to warm up last night… Psshhhh… Gotta correct that silliness…
So what happened in tech?
Nasse deserved to win
Dont go bashing Russel for driving Nasse the way Nasse drives everyone else have you all forgotten the governor cup? or that Nasse wrecked the 11 car after feature during the past speedweeks. so give the kid credit he can drive but he is not the cleanest racer around. also was sitting in turn 4 his restart was at the same spot as Rogers on the next restart.
some one put up money to tear down the 95 strickly sence it was turn a 24.2 in a strickly stock with a so called stock 305 they didnt tear it all down they stoped at the ported out intake . Its crazy a ported out intake on adamn stricklythat dont pay no money
We were standing it the infield in turn 1, and that was one wild crash. I held my breath waiting to see Kennedy get out of the car. That car was shortend up big time! Glad to see all were ok.
Missed hooking up with you guys last night… No biggy… the 5th is coming… LOL… That looked like one hell of a looper boy… Especially since Kennedy went back to shop and changed motors and came back… Rough night…
Last night Russell ran nasse real high in one and then nasse returned the favor in three. Alls good in my book at that point, after the race Russel was clearly in the wrong.
Didn’t see the speed weeks incident with Rogers, I would remember it if I did. Gov cup, I recall Russell escalating from close racing with some contact to just wrecking him.
On the restart deal, the problem with nasse’s restart was he wasn’t the leader! I agree about where he did it, just wasn’t his to start.
Not sure I like Nasse, but he wasn’t the problem last night.
Interesting to hear something broke on the 11, definitely seemed out of character for him.
David was running really well last night I hated to see those guys have a wreck like that… It looked like most of it was back together… Hope to see them back for the Pete Orr and then speedweeks…
I was really surprised to see how bad Clouser’s car was torn up… ouch… Didn’t look at the rest… Got tired of looking at all that work to be done…
speedweeks
the 11 car talked about being wrecked after the feature during last speedweeks was not rogers it was in the crate late models division.
How many cars started the RED EYE last night? :ernaehrung004:
20 cars took the green out of 22 that showed up. George Gorham crashed in practice, not sure what happened to Doug Elliott.
There lucky they stopped there, because just an hogged out intake don’t make a 305 run like that.

As far as the after the race incident goes, I had Russell on the scanner and he said that the lap board said “99” so he thought they had another lap. I dont remember hearing his spotter call out the last lap either. Not defending him, just reporting what I heard.
Just so we all know that Steven can drive, but he is a spoiled little kid with alot of good stuff to drive and needs to be taught a lesson about respect to other drivers and there teams. I was listening to his radio and he said to his spotter(daddy) that he was going to wreck david roger on that restarted he he chops him and then said checkers or wreckers !!! well his dad didnt say no to that. He needs to keep in mind that this isnt a video game where you can just walk away from the tv when you done. You can get killed out there or kill someone! the real deal is that wreck we saw the 96 hitting the way so hard his shoe was knocked off his feet. When you race everyone want to win but you need to have resect on the track for others and the teams that work so hard to get to the track
