I would love to hear a team announce at the beginning of the season… “Screw the Championship. We’re out to win, or crash trying, every week”

A good starting point would be to remove that 7+ millions $ to the winner of the championship and spread it towards weekly wins awards. At that level of racing is one place where top heavy purse would do good for performance. Standard purse for all races:
Million to win, half mil for second, quarter mil for third, 125 for fourth, 100 for fifth, 85, 75, 65, 55, 50,000 for 10th, and drop that to 10 G to take the green. That would make them pick up the pace and RACE since they(drivers) are all on a %age of the purse.

And only the race winners should be in the chase. Bcuz before you are a champion, you at least have to be a winner. How in hell can you deserve to be a champion without winning??? Explain that one to me!!! This completely defeat the purpose of the word ‘‘Sport’’.
The problem as I see it, is that Nascar got way too big for their own britches. When Corporate money was flowing, they didn’t NEED or even want the blue collar fan. Now that they’ve run us all off, NOW they want us to be THEIR savior.

My first Daytona experience was in 1985 (granted, a long time ago), and it was very reasonable to go. $25 for an infield ticket and $10 for a flat-bed truck to party on top of. Now, there are several parking lots that want twice that amount just to PARK, and then whack us for $100 to get in, $8 beers, $6 Hamburgers… the list goes on and on. Their own greed is what got them in this mess, and now they want us to pull them out of it. Personally, I don’t need Nascar.

We didn’t forget… but they want us to.
Boy u know i hate to agree with you. Try this my last sit at a NASCAR CUP race and watch was 1985…

I still watch on tv so i am the reason not the soluition.
If you chace the funding of NASCAR and TV the numbers say big busness spend your ad dollar with them. We dont have the numbers. We dont get the money. The car counts can save short track racing and that may help the fan count some.

Try this
If you sold every seat at NSS for $10 you could not pay the power bill at Datona for 1 night!

If you sold every seat leftover at datona speedweeks for$10 You could buy all the pavement track in florida.

If NASCAR cared they would help or buy them.

Jimmy, That is why I said “Nascar mentioned” and “something like this” because when Brian France said this he said they were still working on it. With that being said, Brian France doesn’t say this kind of stuff to the media without being pretty sure of what he is saying is going to happen. He said it the same time he said they “may” change the point system this year. That is not official either.

If Kyle Bush, with a full time ride with the same team for years, can’t get more win than a rookie in a part time ride for a short season than Kyle don’t deserve to be in the chase anyway.

I just glad you pick our good friend Trevor to compare too. Trevor and his dad Rocky were some of our toughest competition for years.

About 4 or 5 years ago when me and Rocky were moving our boys up from karting to supers a ton of people were bashing us. Saying that karting was NO comparison to a super and we were crazy. I wonder what they think now.

It’s official now. The only adjustment was that you have to be in the top 20 in points to be in the chase.

The “chase” was suppose to save the sport and bring more fans to it. It’s suppose to be like a playoff system. The “chase” has turned me off. It doesn’t really reward a team for their performance during the whole season. IMO, the champion now isn’t the same as the champion was prior to the new format. I like the changes they made to the point system. I just wish they would use the complete season to determine the champion and not just the final 10 races.

Thumbs up Winger…
