Boo To Fascar, You Don’t Buy Tires They Say Your Soakin Them How Unfair
I’m pretty ignorant on this subject, but I’ll ask the question anyway… why aren’t guys allowed to soak their tires?
I mean, aren’t most guys at New Smyrna buying a new set of tires each night, or at least right sides?
If so, and if tire costs are the issue, couldn’t they change the rule to say that you can only run a max. of 2 or 4 new tires a night, mark them, and if you want to soak them, then have it…?
tIRE iSSUE
wHAT IT BIOLS DOWN TO IS HE WENT OUT TO QUALIFY ON SCUFFS AND HE DID NOT BUY NEW TIRES, WHICH IS WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO DO. HE WAS TRYING TO KEEP HIS BUDGET DOWN. THERE WAS NO TIRE SOAKING. I KNOW THAT RACE TEAM THEY ARE HONEST AND HELP ALL THE LOCAL RACERS IN BREVARD COUNTY
fascar?
#80 team gets takeoffs painted pink ,then tries to qualify on them! What does fascar have to do with this? They were painted PINK, look at the pic on speed51. They said that is what they were doing to tires that were found soaked, painting them pink .
From Speed51’s coverage:
First, Brian’s brother, Kevin posted:
"Brian didn’t buy tires for tonight because he had tires he scuffed from yesterday. I guess they make you buy a set every night if you are going to race??? He told me he was faster on scuffs than stickers… "
Then Speed51:
“According to track officials, the outside tires of Brian Finney’s car were painted a bright pink, which has been the officials’ indication for soft tires during Speedweeks. If we can get more info, we will pass it along.”
Then Kevin posted:
“I have been told that they said Brian’s tires were soaked. I flat out asked Brian on the phone if he soaked them and he said no. Earlier today, Brian told me he was afraid that they weren’t going to like it that he didn’t purchase tires today. He was trying to stay on a budget this week. So much for that! He told me he will start from the back on new tires… That’s what I know.”
So yeah, I guess, pretty much, you have to qualify on stickers, or the tech officials mark 'em and make ya change 'em.
As for the guy who asked why aren’t they allowed to soak 'em? Because it really gives some guys an unfair advantage over the guys that can’t (afford to) soak tires. It sorta puts everyone on the same tire. A soaked tire will duro softer than a non-soaked tire, therefore, a lot quicker for qualifying.
Ok first, my try at being sarcastic sucks( I am sure they did not go to qualify on pink tires). So lets try agian. The 80 team are great people and do help many! But does fascar tell ricky to dq a good tire?
It is the tracks way of getting more money. They are getting money on each tire and the more tires teams buy the more money they get. It would take more time but they should check all tires before quallifying and then right after put a mark on them (custom bingo markers or something) and you must start the race on the same tires. If you don’t you start a lap down. If you have illegal tires then they get taken (rims also) and thrown away and start a lap down. You will then have to get a new set of tires and have them checked and if those are not right then you are dqed for the whole night and next race at that track. That is just what I think.
I don’t believe that Brain would of gone out on soaked tires. From what I’ve been told it the new way FASCAR is doing business you no matter who you are have to buy tires the day of the race. I not sure about the local show but believe it’s for the big shows and speedweeks. I guess if you been told up front then what are you to do. I don’t know if you can go to the track and say hey I can afford tires every day can you impound mine and I’ll put them on before qaulifing or something like that.
If pink paint is an indication that a tire previously tested softer than the minimum durometer reading, then somebody got caught running soft tires in qualifying.
Sounds pretty simple to me.
I soak tires so I can use them for more races. Everytime a tire goes through a heat cycle, it gets harder. The Hoosiers usually are only good for 3-5 heat cycles before they start to harden and fall off ( lap times). For those that don’t know, a heat cycle is when a tire goes from ambient temp to race temp and back to ambient temp. One night of practice, heat races or qualifying, and the race can actually diminish the race tires softness and lower lap times considerably. Just my experience.
Soak em all, just don’t get caught punching to low of a number, and don’t race pink tires either.
soak
1)soak tires to much, got busted
2)ricky was told to dq teams not buying tires
3)went out with pink tires and though everybody color blind
Would Ricky do that if told… No
Color blind…no
he will still be in the top five if he can stay out of the BS!
