I had a great time watching Steve Kinser and the World of Outlaws last night at VSP. You have to pay for the privilege…$39 bucks at the front gate, but at least the Outlaws delivered a really good show. The track made a new dirt fan too; I took a friend to his first non-pavment race and he loved it.
I’m back to New Smyrna tonight for the ACT 100. I’ve been looking forward to see how their new race format will work, so I’m expecting big things.
I know that everyone breathlessly awaits my report on the bathrooms at Volusia! In my role of bathroom inspector, I gotta say that VSP has one great thing going for their facilities, but even with that, I give them a B-. The fact is the bathrooms are too small and cramped for a facility of that size. BUT, they do have boiling hot water to use for washing, so they earn extra credit for that. They are well lit, painted and attended. Even though there was an attendent, the paper towels were not in the dispensor, and when I politely mentioned this, I thought that guy was going to attack. Ah, the perils of life in public service!
