raced against Donnie in the mid 60’s. always a class act. don’t get well soon, GET WELL NOW. You are in our prayers.
Those are not good signs…
I don’t know Mr. Tanner but he most certainly has my prayers. I know how much we have needed prayers the last week and a half and still do so this family has definitely got mine.
May God bless you and your family and hold his loving arms around all of you.
Any updates on Donnie? Got a few (driver) friends on Facebook asking. Was this due to an illness, or an injury, or…?
Thanks…
Truly one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, and one hell of driver too!!!
We raced against him at East Bay in the late 70s to early 80s. He even drove my dad’s latemodel at Golden Gate alittle.
Fight the good fight, Mr. Tanner…
This man was the epitome of being a race car driver/builder.
I don’t think I ever saw a race he was in where he wasn’t a threat to win.
Sprint cars. Late Models. Early Models.
On the dirt. On asphalt.
Didn’t matter.
I met him once at his speed shop/garage in Brandon. One of the nicest racing guys I’ve ever met. I think I pulled him away from his dinner with his family, but he dug around for 45 minutes looking for a carb spacer that he was sure he had and sure enough, he found it. Then he wouldn’t take the full price just because it wasn’t in it’s original packaging. Heck, I was just happy to have gotten to meet and talk to him for a while. I probably would have paid him double.
Hope you can turn this thing around, Mr. Tanner.
If anybody can, it would be you.
I don’t think I ever met Donnie either but I have watched him race a blue million times. Like Matt said if he was in the race he was near the front and he wasn’t leading he was challenging for the lead. I will pray for him and if someone could let us know more about what was wrong we could pray more specifically. Get well Donnie we are pulling for you. Bob…
Anyone have any updates on Donnie? Got some old racing friends from Tampa/St. Pete asking about him.
