Been working on my daughter’s cars the last few months.
Had trouble with both of them in practice but I think were ready
for tomorrow night.

Sshhhh… It appears to be a secret, no one is supposed to know about opening night.
Those of us that have been anticipating opening night have stayed informed by simply checking the website.
Maybe if you sponsor the track they will use your sponsorship dollars to advertise on television. You could probably have it in your sponsorship contract how the track is to advertise.
You could be the primary sponsor of OSW. All you have to do is spend some money instead of typing sarcasm.
You could make a difference.

You Are Not Going To Reach Or Appeal To Any New Fans Via ANY Tracks Website . They Dont Even Know It Exists . The Boneman Makes An Excellent Point . There Are Many , Many Ways To Advertise Your Buisness Cheaply Besides The Internet Which Is Useless To Anyone Except The Racers Themselves . Anyone Who Owns A Buisness That Wants To Succeed And Profit Knows They Are Going To Have To Advertise In Creative Ways To Reach Potential Customers . You Have To Spend Money To Make Money . Like For Instance , Its Spring Break , Is Or Was Anyone Out On The Beach Passing Out Flyers Or Two For One Tickets ? Any Race Cars On Display ? How Did Tracks Advertise Before The Internet Came Along And Made Everyone Lazy ??? Its Alot Of Hard Work And Aggravation But You Have To Get The Word Out And Entice People To Come To Your Track . The Internet Is Not The Answer . Human Contact And Visual Displays Grabs Their Attention . LIKE GET RID OF THE ENCLOSED TRAILERS AND GET THOSE RACECARS BACK ON OPEN TRAILERS SO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND POTENTIAL FANS CAN SEE THEM ! GOOD LUCK TO ALL RACERS THIS YEAR ! SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE TRACK ANY WAY YOU CAN !
SLM#! Im so with you…but did you really CAP every first letter or is it a spell check? DAMN! It was hard reading it…But you are right…it is not the fans responsibility to seek the website…it is the tracks responsibility to drive them to it. Hence more advertising dollars for tracks for site hits…not much more but everything helps

Ok, lets make a list.
Regarding Speedworld’s near secret opening night, did you see any:
press releases?
newspaper?
radio or TV ads?
radio sports shows?
car & driver appearances?
cross promotions/co promotions?
passes, 2 for 1, Groupon, or flyers?
At this point I would settle for at least a public discussion in anything louder than a whisper.
If I’ve over-looked examples of items on the above list, then please let me know about it. Fact is, I don’t think there will be any examples that I missed.
It is possible that OSW is playing it a smart by building the fields and pits before pushing to attract fans through the front gate. Its possible…maybe.
Yes, the tracks have websites. But certainly no one believes a website, which is an essential tool to inform and entertain your present customers, can possibly be used to attract many new customers.
No one on this board supports racing more than Rex. He lives and probably dies a little when OSW has a weak show, so if he wants to question the business tactics and lets face it, it is a business to fascar whether they want to call it a hobby or not, I think he has the right to say what he wants about them. If anyone here thinks the track puts forth the effort to make it successful they have that right too. With the population the track has to draw from putting a couple thousand people in the stands shouldn’t be that hard or expensive.

Rex i think flowers in the restrooms each week might help but if you want a croud to come next weed jump tim on the frount streach and waer him out with a umbrlla. Have two girls come out and get into the fight and trar there tops of but dont over do it and more people will be there than $10.000 of tv could bring…

they do need to get more adverticement out there. many drivers now are worried about their cars getting ruined while going to or from the track and they hide their cars… go back i want to say about 6 or 7 years where there were only a few enclosed trailer… when i start racing open trailer with a banner will be flying!
