Haven’t heard anything about the race, no articles on Speed51, Karnac, etc. Who was planning on being there, how many pre-entries did they have? How come NSS has not promoted the event other than on the NSS website which I looked at today and no pre-entries were posted. This was heavily promoted the last two years and had a good car count, how come no notice this year? It seems that Late Model Racing this year is not being promoted. I have seen comments regarding the United Promoters events not getting the results out until midway thru the following week. Who is taking the lead in the state of Florida when it comes to Late Model Racing? Who is actually in charge of promoting the United Promoters Tour? We do not need to return to how Late Model Racing was 3 years ago. By the way, I did see on the Billie Harvey Memorial website that they did have a fair amount of contingency sponsors however I can not find any contingency sponsors for the United Promoters Tour.

Pretty good race, just a low turnout
I honestly haven’t seen FASCAR promoting much of anything. They did have a decent article in the News Journal but that’s basically Volusia County. They say no one comes on here.
They say no one comes on here.[/QUOTE]
Only people interested in racing. I guess they assume that we will drive hundreds of miles to see their racing no matter what, WRONG if I don’t have an idea how good the show might be I won’t go.
No, no one comes on Karnac.com. in search of racing information. Come on now, this is the #1 source of racing information for the state of Florida and it has been for years. The audacity to say no one comes here.
Like I’ve said so many times before many Florida race tracks are their own worst enemies. They don’t promote their races and as a result no one knows what is going on at their tracks and no one knows what is happening with traveling series.
To think all they would have to do is send me some press releases at jberti-Karnac@GMX.com and they could get all the free publicity they could ever ask for.
I’ve said to so many Florida race track promoters over the years that they should take advantage of every opportunity to get publicity for their tracks that I’m just about to the point of no longer having the desire to do it, it is just a wasted effort.
John, the drivers are supposed to promote the track and bring in new drivers by the dozens. I must say the strictly stock was a pretty good race, quite a lot of cars.
I really get the feeling John if someone says something they wont do it just because they don’t have to, they are in charge. I just cant understand. Thank god I dont have thousands tied up in a race car.
Im on here…2500 miles away…To see who won last night…Thanks!
That North Wilkesboro 300 lap race was last week guys. Might that have something to do with carcount? (Stephen, Jeff)

My best guess is the negativity and ball busters keeps them from posting on Karnac. I am not sure I can believe its because “nobody comes on here”, they are not that dumb.
it was a good race
We were there last night, the field was 15 or 16 late models, it was a clean good race. The crowd was a little light, as I recall there were more people in the stands for the Pete Orr memorial race.
All I can say is lets keep hope up and there will be some more aggressive promotion in the future, in the meantime…lets get ready for the next race!
John, a lot of people have left this site. News isn’t posted in a timely fashion at all any longer and what is posted is mostly press releases. I’m not putting you down at all, just telling you how it is. FFS is set up to post news as soon as it’s received. It’s forum is being used more and more, even by asphalt fans now. For instance, Bubba made an announcement several hours ago regarding some big plans for Ocala and nothing has been posted on this site, until I made a small post in another topic. However, the talk has been rampant on FFS and Facebook since then. Even Rick Anges has commented on facebook but hasn’t made any mention on here, and he’s suppose to be an administrator. This site seems to have become a Punta Gorda cheering section and Tuna playground lately. No one takes it seriously as a racing site any longer. It’s really too bad but since Jack has stepped back, it just isn’t the same. This post isn’t meant to bash but to explain what has happened.
Hey Tuna, you did put this post up for humor. I hope you are not serious that drivers have to promote the tracks. They have enough responsibility keeping their race cars prepared and getting sponsors to foot the bills.
Bob,
I don’t get a dime for being the Senior News Editor for Karnac.com. I just do it for the love of the sport. I am not about to go 24-7 keeping everything up to the second on this website as I have a life outside of racing and other interests that I pursue. I am not like some people who live and die for auto racing and if people are going to expect that out of me let me tell you point blank that is not going to happen. I do the best I can for Jack Smith and I know he appreciates my efforts. Please remember Jack has serious health issues and if it weren’t for that you know, as well as I, that Karnac would be much better.
Perhaps the other websites you reference have more of a staff than we have at Karnac.com. As far as I know it is just Rick Anges and I. I do the posting of Florida race results and press releases and Rick monitors the message boards. I don’t have any webmaster talent. If there is anyone out there that would like to help I’m sure Jack would appreciate it.
John, I sent you an email but let me publicly say I wasn’t criticizing you and I think what you are doing for Jack is admirable. Please don’t take my comments personally and I want to assure everyone else that reads this, that my comments weren’t meant to offend or criticize you.
All tracks need a professional Media/PR person but are unwilling to PAY for that position… all they want is someone to do it for free whether it’s a retired person looking for something to do or a high school/college intern… Really sad nowadays…
Billie Harvey used to bring 15 cars to a race WITH HIM!!! Say what you want to about the guy, but he absolutely LOVED racing…
Helping Central Fl. Racing
We have approached some of the track owners about putting the show Raceweek back on the air but no body has the money to do so. At OSW and NSS the Gorden Motorsports shoot the racing and just makes DVD to buy. If you guys want media to show racing in the Central Florida Tracks everybody needs to call the tracks and say we need it. I have 2 guys that would love to do it, they just need about $1000 a week to edit and stories on all of the local teams and drivers. They can make tv commercials
Getting the $$$ to do anything like what you just mentioned is like pulling teeth out of a rattlesnake… nearly impossible… POST FX has been doing live webcasts from Volusia the past two years and can’t get anyone to step up and help fund it other than Rick Barsness who runs a pizza chain out of MISSOURI… Oh, lots of folks say Great idea! You are doing a great job, we’d like to get involved… But when it comes time to open up their wallets they are nowhere to be found… plus the track, that benefits the most from the exposure and can utilize it as a very good marketing tool, won’t help either…
That’s why there are no webcasts (so far) there this year… Other tracks can do the same thing but it’s amazing how management just seems disinterested…
If you really want your track to be successful, as with any business/product, you’ve got to market yourself 24/7…
Karnacians!
Lets all Quit the bitching and insulting… The people who do take care of this board do it out of kindness and do not get paid a penny. Jack is horribly ill and couldnt do this if he wanted to. and he is actually sad about that. Rick works full time and so do i… so how can we continue bringing people the latest news. We can stop the bitching and we can all post interesting news including crowds, car counts, …everything devoted to racing.
Hopefully Jack will recuperate and gain strength and be back with a vengeance. If not then the least we can do is help!
we are adults. we dont need moderators for crying out loud! Bring a pad to the races and keep notes of all the interesting things you see and hear and share them with our racing community.
i tried for many years but im so damn weak now i cant do it. doesnt mean i dont care. and if i do care someone always has the ill manners to insult me. truth is i dont give a damn. i will still promote racing in any way i can.
John Berti has offered to help. all you have to do TRACK OWNERS is send him information! he is part of the KARNAC/REAL RACIN team.
we can point fingers all day long but the truth is we can all PROMOTE… doesnt cost a dime to talk or post!
I for one dont want 12 years of hard work to go down the drain… lets plug the leak and fill up the sink with RACING NEWS thats happening NOW…
carolwicks aka OZ
Carol… Our comments on here, first of all, have nothing to do with KARNAC, yourself or John Berti… and we all are praying Jack Smith will make it thru this latest set-back and be back doing what he loves very soon…
The fact is… most FL tracks don’t see fit to promote, report or market what they have to the general public…
Thank goodness we have KARNAC and a couple other sites, plus people like yourself and John who put forth a lot of effort, otherwise we really would not know much about what’s going on…
The bad thing is… what percentage of the general public (who like racing or sports in general) have any idea a site like this one exists… and most people don’t spend the hours on the 'puter each day like we do…
