New Subject, favorite announcer

Thought I should start another subject, no more talking about you know who. So who does everyone prefer as a race announcer, Kyle Petty or Darrell Waltrip? Remember, we’re talking about race annoucers, now who you liked better as a driver. I wont say who I like, I cant take another bashing today. LOL:smilie_abcfra:

o’k

I’ll get this going, I like Waltrip.

DW. billy

Can’t stand DW as an announcer. Petty is much better IMO. This is a discussion that can’t be won though. Everyone has a different favorite for different reasons. I remember years ago when Ned Jarrett announced and I thought he did a very good job and was impartial. I had a friend who couldn’t stand him and thought he spent all his time talking about his son, which I didn’t believe he did.

No offense but they both suck.

DW of course.

I like DW because he knows what he is talking about. Lot of wisdom. But as far being a “true” announcer, he is not.

I like Ned Jarrett, Mike Joy, and Dick Berggren

definately

Fox and DW and larry Mac

OK, Don, you asked for it

You said, “race announcers”.

You didn’t say, “TV announcers”

Chip Green at Palm Beach and Hialeah.

Dickie Edwards and Jack Miller at Golden Gate when it reopened in '81.

Bob Schmidt and the original “Larry Mac”, Larry MacMillan at Sunshine and Inverness.

On TV, I *loved" Neil, Ken, Benny, and David Hobbs when they did their CBS gigs.

Bob Jenkins and Larry Nuber on ESPN when they did Thursday Night Thunder.

Steve Evans on TNN covering the ASA, All-Pro, ACT, and SCC races at Nashville and Sanair.

Can’t really stand any of 'em on TV now.

sorry I asked between Darrell Waltrip and Kyle Petty. No problem.

yeah Jarrett, Joy and Berggren are good. Kyle Petty is ok but he drives my crazy with his, “and, and, and, and, and” Just a little thing. Anyone notice today how he couldnt keep the car #'s straight. Hey, I’m just jeolous, he made more $ today than I will all yr!!!

Hey

Just internet chatter right?? Everyone has their own opinion, thats a good thing.

DW just because he gave David Reutimann a shot to drive for his truck series team. Or just mute the tv and listen to the scanner on nascar.com some of those spotter, crew cheif and driver conversations are funny.

These three are pretty good along with Dr Jerry Punch but Dw is obnoxious.

I don’t watch much NASCRAP but I like Petty and DW “okay”, I guess. At least they’re old racers and know what they’re talking about most of the time.
As for “local” announcers, I like any of them that do most of their talking while the race cars are on the BACKSTRETCH! I absolutely HATE when they’re announcing drivers names when the cars are coming down the front straight!!!
Also, I noticed last night that the announcer at LCS is pretty good…NOT!!!LOL!

IMHO I think Larry Mac is good, lately Petty has been making stupid comments like he has an axe to grind with acouple of drivers. Some of the older annoucer back in the day were Bob Jenkins,Ned Jarrett, Eli Gold,Paul Page, and who could ever forget the call of the "pass in the grass"by Dale Erhardt by Keith Jackson.Ken Squire was good back when CBS & TBS broadcasted the races, but today I think Mike Joy is the best.

Eli Gold was awesome as a radio announcer but I couldn’t stand listening to him on Television. Don’t ask me why because you really don’t see them in either medium but it’s the way he affected me. Most of the others I think are, or were, pretty good. I loved Niel Bonnett.
I like that DW gave Reutimann a chance and think he’s probably a decent person. Never met him. I just don’t like his announcing style.
Larry Mac is criticized for his vocabulary and that’s probably why I like him. LOL
I’m just glad we don’t have ex formula 1 drivers such as David Hobbs and Jackie Stewart announcing NASCAR any longer. I use to cringe listening to them at some of the older races.

I perfer Racin Jason Beckner Or BJ, but if I to Choose TV The D.W.

I like D.W. out of the two … But back in the day Neil Bonnett was good …And at a local level Roby Helm from Desoto in the 80’s…He was good

The old ESPN bunch of Bob Jenkins, the late Larry Nuber and Dave DeSpain was absolutely the best and no one could beat Ned Jarrett and good ol’ Benny Parsons as analysts… Larry Rice was good on the old Thursday Thunder shows too… Locally, the two best and guys I learned the most from were Bob Keith at the old Orlando Raceway and Gordon Solie at The Gate…
