I am going to start racing asphalt midgets here in florida, but in two years I am going to Ohio for school(UNOH) Does anyone know about midget racing series or tracks that run them up there. Do they race them on asphalt or do they just do dirt. My goal is to race asphalt wingless sprints by the time I get back down here.(Im going up there for 2 years) Any info would help. Please and Thank you.
I live up here in Ohio (in between Canton and Akron), but don’t know of any midget racing up here - except for the Four Crown when USAC goes to Eldora.
The local dirt track here (in Orrville - Wayne County Speedway) runs 410 winged Sprints on a weekly basis here.
I wanna say that UNOH has a race team and built a UMP or IMCA Modified that they run around here somewheres. I saw the car on display at Painesville (an asphalt track - 1/5th mile) when they had their season opener.
Here’s a couple of links about UNOH Racing:

University of Northwestern Ohio - looks like they run the weekly show at Limaland.
Thank you. I have been looking and didnt find anything and seening your post it dont look like there is any. I like the sprints but know I cant just start in one so I guess I will have to change my plans. The school owns a track and runs modifieds and stock cars each week. I think I will have to look around and find what runs down here and up there both. I know it is kinda going different from what the school does with their teams but I have been around asphalt circle track racing alot and want to do something with that. Do you know what asphalt circle tracks are around the school(Lima)? Sorry about all the questions.
I saw you stated that you are going to run midgets down here…TQ’s? or what? I know that they race TQ’s in Indiana on both dirt and asphalt. I can give you the following links below. Also, they race pavement midgets in Indiana. Not sure how far Lima is from Indiana, I spent a year in Green, OH. but know much more about Ohio. If you need any more TQ midget info, just ask.( I race one!)

Ummmm. They prefer to be called

Thank you sprinter15jr and odie09, the links really helped. I was planning on running the tq’s here in Florida. It looks like I will have to go to Indiana to race them which is only a little over a hour away. Looking at the USAC Mopar D1midget schedule most of the tracks are under three hours away with 1 track being 7 hours away. What I am really hoping is after 4 years of racing them I can be good enough to start racing sprints.
Can you race the same car om both asphalt and dirt? I know you have to change tires and set up but what else?
Yes! Cars are run on both surfaces. Most of the cars in Indiana are " COMBO" cars, torsion bar rear and coil-over front. Did you buy a TQ in Florida yet? When do you plan on running? If you can make it, we are racing on Aug. 20th at Punta Gorda Speedway. Stop by the pit of S&S racing and speak with me.
The cars that run down here are just a little different then in Indiana. We run the “stock” Suzuki GSXR 750 engines and have some asphalt purpose built cars. Most cars in Indiana are powered by the old Honda CB 750, which they clean up to 836cc and are dirt cars. Stop by and speak with me and I can show you some of the different things on the cars.
I have not bought a car yet I am going to go look at a couple different ones at the end of the month. I will try to come to the track but i dont know if I will be able because it is the first weekend of school and I dont know what they are going to put on me. Thank you for all your help.
Racingrocks- hope you can make it down to the track on Sat. Looking forward to talking to you and meeting you. Are you looking at cars in Florida or where at the end of the month? I know of most cars down here, let me know what cars your looking at.
