Got to be able to buy the wood somewhere. I could probably find out the spec from one of my customers.
Have you priced p.t lumber lately? Holy Crap! LOL!
youre right RSB, the stuff is terrible. Maybe Depot or Lowes would donate some if a big sign was put up at the track? I dont know, I TRY to support those that support racing.
At NSS the boards have fiberglass covers on the wood and the wood last forever… at OSW the bleachers are wood and it takes apx 100 boards each year. They get inspected each year and brough up to code.
Some of the frames in the pits were built buy a Tampa ferm in 1955 and still look great.
The wood that was used for seats is now over $100 a board so most tracks use PT pine and it does have some knots and can break if you dont keep a watch on it.
I rember spending $10,000 on wood at little lakeland the first time we put wood on it.
The ins co inspect them each year but things do happen.
Its sad but part of the sport. Its like a sprint car on the wrong side of the fience or a loose tire.
If you were at a baseball game and got hit buy the ball then what would happen.
Offering to help is great. The labor is a big help to the tracks.

good point Don
What about the guy that leaned out to catch a foul ball for his son in Texas, flipped over the rail and was killed in front of his son? Its very sad but like I said, this stuff does happen. Guess we could sit home in our living room all the time but I’d probably be parralized by a stroke then lightning would strike and burn the house down!!! (not sorry about the spelling)
