Wow ,Morgan and Gray there, I couldn’t go 2 days in row.
Wow, what an adventure! Why didn’t I try this 20 years ago? Some other drivers would be upset with finishes of 11’th, and either a 10’th or 12’th, but under the circumstances I am not. Gotta tell you, after the race on Sunday, I was more jacked up than after any race for the last 10 years or so, and that includes winning nights.
I have good news and bad news. The good is that my lap times in the sprint were 4 seconds faster than my lap times in a Mod. mini. On Speed51, the posted lap time was 17.3…the fastest I ever went there by a mile.
The bad news is that I am still 1+ seconds behind the fastest cars like Troy DeCaire and Mickey Kempgens!
There is a learning curve to learning these cars. I am happy to say that I picked it up by 1+ seconds over the two days. We made front end changes to make the car dart around less, and of course seat time mattered to a new guy like me. Next time back, we need to try a different gear; I know we were off on that, but that’s racing.
I’m lucky to have the support of some excellent friends. Ron McCreary worked tirelessly for two days. He is smart, and nothing rattles him. Edm loaned us a 4 wheeler that came in so handy, and was on hand with Michael Seay and Andy Sandall to provide lots of comic relief. In all, it was an unforgetable weekend!
;-(
