Got brave and went to the facebook thing and don’t see any news (progress, dates, etc) Just says “Closed Group”. I’m new to the facebook, but I tried all I know and dare venture into. Tried facebook a couple times in the passed and after a week or so I had to get an Exorcist to fix my computer. Would be nice if they would put updates on here. Are they already running into problems?
info
I’m part of the group & from Danielle Yoho it says"we are doing lots of work to the track painting, electrical, hot water etc." I don’t think they are having problems, just taking time to fix the place & not just throw it together. Hope this helps ya.
You would think it would be important???
Your right!! If you want to be successful. You take full advange of all the outlets of media. Remembers they are ROOKIES at this. They can’t see the valve.
We will just have to wait.

2 things I notice they were doing yesterday as I went to the motocross, Saturday the 6th. 1. remodeling the drag tower and working on the tech shed. Looks like DOT has not moved anything off of the track.
I meant the 7th, I seem to have lost a whole day of my life somewhere. I can’t afford to lose those days anymore.
Do they have anything together like rules, schedules, fuel, tires, classes, etc. I hope they don’t wait until the last minute and release everything at once and a lot of us have to make changes to our cars that may take time and money past opening nite. The web site has none of that info except the possible opening date which is a little more than a month/six weeks away. In reality all this stuff should be available now so we can be ready. That’s what we (us racers) need! My cars may not even be eligable to run there. I’m really hoping they do, but I don’t know. I ran a Super there back in the mid 90’s and had a great time. I just don’t understand why they don’t use at least this site for updates? It’s not like it costs money. gator81, maybe you could talk to her about this? I’m really wanting to come back there to run (it is 110 miles one way for me to come). But at this point, I’m not holding my breath, because of the lack of information/news.
So far, I’d grade them a “D” for communication skills. Even their website has NO information other than a small scroll at the bottom of the page saying that the opening day will be announced “shortly after” the Dragstrip opens… and there’s nothing solid about THAT date either. Still no mention of what classes they will be running, let alone any rules for those classes.

Give them a little time, I know they have been thrashing on the place, cleaning ,painting, etc. The old jewel was in dire need of some TLC . DD38 I do no the mod rules will be the same as they have in the past, they said at one of there meetings the mod drivers voted and they will be going back to the 8’’ SLICKS, The state has been dragging there feet on removing items from the infield, but as of last week 80 percent had been removed from the infield. I hope this helps
What’s to repaint? There aren’t any grandstands, concessions stands, or bathrooms left anymore. Maybe a little weed-whacking, some asphlt patching, and that pain-in-the-ass of actually BUILDING brand new grandstands, new concession stands, and new bathroms, maybe even lights, and electrical/sound systems.
Those task right there alone… are MAJOR work, man.
If they fire up by July 4th, it will still be OK, if they fire-up at all. Man hours and materials, are going to cost a shit-load of dollars.
Kinda like building a racecar all by your self, ain’t it?
Yes, kinda-like.
But I don’t know how to build a Racecar, but I do, somewhat, know how to build a Raceway.
But, what I know is irrelevent in this puzzle. It doesn’t matter anyway.

I know they have alot of work to do. But it would be nice for them to post classes and rules. Not all of have raced before. Want to buy a car, but not going to waste money til they post more info
I think they should post up if they could use some help, too! I bet there’s people on here who’d be willing to go over and help out for a day, at least!
Again…<sigh>…and this ain’t a dig on you guys at all…but it seems all they’re using to “communicate” right now is FaceBook. If you went to the “News about Sunshine Speedway Reopening” FaceBook page, they’re posting some news there. But, most of the newer stuff is being posted in the “Showtime Speedway” FaceBook page. If you see “closed group” up top, that just means that you have to “Ask to Join Group”.
I did see that they were looking at a “grand reopening” at the end of May, I believe it was.
This was posted last week:
“Swap Meet & Car Show @ Showtime Speedway & Dragstrip ? Sunday, April 29 at 9:00am at 4500 Ulmerton Road - Showtime Speedway & Dragstrip.”
Dave, call 'em up, tell 'em your frustration with trying to do everything via FaceBook. I’m serious.
So far, I grade them a “D” communication skills. Even if their website have said, will be announced on the opening “soon after,” Dragstrip open at the bottom of the page to a small rolling outside of the information… What about the date of the solid. Still no mention they will run what kind, not to mention those kind of any rules
I have heard it a thousand times, only so many hours in a day, rules for supers, mod mini, modified, are out rules for street stock, boomers ?, and 4 cyc boomers for kids are real close. Pro 8 are also out. If I was to set and write rules all day I would get nothing done, If I have said it once I have said it a million times, if you build close to CItrus, or DEsoto rules you will be really close, AND REMEBER no rear leaf spring street stocks, no camaro. Now off to work the track.
From the Facebook page by Robert Yoho
Not sure what to take of this… if “the rules are out”, where the hell are they? Not on their web-site.
“if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times”… again, WHERE?
“if you build to the Citrus or Desoto rules, you’ll be close”… but it doesn’t say you’re LEGAL, just “close”.
How dare anyone ask such silly questions when he has so much work to do…
“if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times”… again, WHERE?
“I tol’ ya once, Jerry…LOL…over on FaceBook”. :-\
I guess they just don’t understand that not everyone uses FaceBook. People will look at a Web site, though. But, they can’t understand that, apparently.

I do not speak for either Robert or Danielle what i will say is general knowledge. It appears to the eye little has been done on upkeep of the facility prior to the new owners taking over,a ton of work has been done since Robert and Danielle have had it,The circle track has been repaved and maintained very well by the state, acess to the trackside is limited until the state finishes up.both the circle track and drag strip will be opened by the new owners so its a very involved task, like i said without details a ton of work has been done and continues. As per rules, mod minis, owm and super late models are done,as per other classes just get them close to surrounding tracks and you will be good. The owm drivers met and voted for slicks, mod minis voted for treaded. The brand of tires will be determined after tire testing, its a green track.Ive know Robert for a very long time and when he says, let the drivers vote for what they want,he means it,this will be a driver, owner and fan friendly facility.Additionally there are restrooms both trackside and in the pits.Your not going to get tossed from tech if your car is not exact,if you have something that is a clear advantage you will be asked to add weight till it can be changed, and like every track if your out and out cheating that will be another issue.
