Good Night for Apopka At OSW 4-13-12

Good show at OSW on Friday. Apopka boys took the E-modified and legend features. Earl Beckner in the #11 e-modified held off the 9 car field in a pretty good race with #10 Jeff Bailey taking second. The 3 early front runners, #38 Glover, #98 Jarrett and #101 Swilley piled up in turn 3 at lap 15 which gave the next group their chance at victory and Beckner took advantage going on to the win. The legends only had 4 cars with Kory Abbott taking the win over # 59 Becca Monopoli. Pro Late Models had a good race with #36 Devin McLeod leading from start to finish. He continually took the lead on the double file re-starts. I believe there was four cautions which tightened the field. The last coming on lap #93. Great race long battle for second and third with #27 Bobby Good beating out #19 Ron Black Jr. Black, Jr started at the rear of the field after one of the cautions and at one point drove his way to second before losing that spot to Good. 9 Pro Lates were on hand. Super Stock had 9 cars, Strictly Stock 10, Minis 4 and Bandoleros 4. Two observations on the night. First it was truly great to see all the fans decked out in Devin Mcleod T-shirts in the winners circle and then the stands after the race. Must have been at least 20 of them. Now if 30 more drivers can do that you would have at least 600 driver orientated shirts in the crowd. Second the crowd was low which in my opinion the $20.00 ticket is the culprit. Maybe at some point the $20.00 price can come back to life but for now the $10.00-$12.00 ticket will put more fans in the seats. PGS has SRO crowds and Citrus is doing very well with that price. Oh well…

Did Kory lap the field? Gosh I wish somebody would put him in a Late Model… Bet he would get the job done in a Sprinter too…

I agree with you Announcer Dave, would like to see him in a late model, lot of potential and a nice young man. No he didn’t lap the field, but kept running slow in the corners for some reason or other and this kept Becca close to him. She came very close to overtaking him at times but he always pulled way on the stretches At times I thought he was trying to make the show race interesting but who knows. He was driving the white #5.
