private track rental at Showtime Speedway

This was posted on facebook. $100 seems steep. Bonnie and Frank only charged $20 and if you broke they didn’t charge you.

Track rental by the hour for the oval if interested.

There they go again with the facebook crap. It is really turning me off as I for one don’t do facebook.

agree

DD38, I agree with you, I do not have a face book either, and have no clue what they are doing…They really should use there web site as the number one place to get info…Maybe I just have no clue…lol

  1. per

if you are on their track they have to have insurance. people look for way’s to sue these day’s. looking out for themselves . fair, yes

For some reason, I think $100 per hour is the going rate at other tracks. Can you split that cost with a couple other cars?

Tracks not even open yet, and some guys will still have an advantage the first night out… the guys with money.

What’s wrong with a single practice for everybody at the same time, then bring em back to RACE. At least they will all be on equal footing. These track rental days will only “un-level” the playing field right off the bat.

lol

Im Sorry Frasson but the guys with the money will be out front no matter what. If you can’t buy tires every week or have the money in the motor and car your not gonna be in the front. Thats how the sport of racing works. Just take Nascar for example low budget teams are in the back and the dominant teams have the money.

LOL

What you say may be true for the upper levels of Nascar now. Probably since Alan Kulwicki won the championship. It didn’t use to be that way. However, that doesn’t translate into the local level. You only need to browse a few threads here to see how competitive the crate motor in the sportsman division is at some tracks vs. the built motors. It equals out more for the more stock divisions. These divisions probably account for 75% of the cars at the local tracks. Granted the top classes, particularly the supers, money is needed. I don’t blame the tracks for leasing out their facilities for practice. It’s the smart business move to earn some revenue. Yes, it will provide an advantage to the teams that want to rent the track. However, an open practice or two, before the track opens, should give most people an opportunity to set their cars up for the new track. If you rent the track, how many hours can you afford to rent it for? You will probably run some laps and then pull in and make some changes. So you’re not on the track for the full time. I don’t know what format Sunshine will have for practice. I think Citrus had about 3 sessions of about 10 minutes per class on race day. That might vary depending on how many divisions they have, rain, or track cleanup. Between actual track time, you have time to discuss what changes you want to make and to make those changes in a careful, relaxed manner. You still have about 30 minutes of track time. Granted an open or race day practice may have some cautions, so being up to speed will be a shorter period. If you rent the track for an hour, you are probably going to be lucky to get 40 to 45 minutes of track time. If the track has an open practice before race day you should be able to get a good hours worth of track time total, if you want or need it. That’s a lot of track time. How many sets of tires can you burn up in an hour? LOL
If I’m a track owner, I’m going to rent the track. If I’m a driver and can afford to buy the tires and fuel to go to the track and practice, I’m going to do that. If I’m a promoter trying to increase the car count and keep expenses down for the car owners, I’m going to regulate the practices. BTW, most track owners down here are not promoters so there isn’t a conflict.
