Commentary

The Top Gun Sprints made their fourth visit of 2012 to Bubba Raceway Park on Saturday May 19, 2012 for the second of the non-wing races. There were 19 cars at the track to give fans three heat races and a 25 lap feature race.

Tony Agin in the 38 car had the pole with Tim Grubaugh in the 5 on the outside for the start of the WELD RACING heat race. Tony took the lead on the start and on lap 2 Tim spun which brought out the caution. On the restart Terry Witherspoon took the lead and the win. The 8 of Rich Alexander had the pole for the KSE heat race, with Scott Anderson in the 47 car on the outside. On the start several cars got together and it was the 88 of Andrew Griffin that broke his car, and the 02 of Gene Lasker also pulled in. On the restart it was Mark Ruel Jr. that made the better start and took the second heat win only to go across the scales and was too lite which caused a DQ and the win went to Rich Alexander. David Slawiak in the 79 car had the pole with A J Maddox in the 3A for the start of the HOOSIER TIRES heat race. David took the lead and the heat win.

The 79 of David Slawiak had the pole for the start of the BARFIELD feature race event, with the 8 of Rich Alexander alongside. After a parade lap, the race went to green and it was David in the 79 car that took the lead. After a yellow flag, on lap 2 the G6 car of Brandon Grubaugh got together with another car and stopped in turn 1 ending his night. On lap 4 the 79 and 6S got together with another car and ended their night. Then on lap 7 the 38 of Tony Agin had spun in turn 1 and also the 02 came to the infield ending his night. Then on lap 20 the 38 again hit front wall and ended his night, that set up for a green and white, checkered due to time limit. On the restart the 92 of Matt Kurtz would hold on to the lead and take the checkered flag, followed by Danny Martin Jr. in the 82 car, A J Maddox in the 3A car, Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car and Colin Cabre in the 12 car rounding out the top 5.
