Top 10 Ways to Help Rusty Perk Up the Governor's Cup Weekend

You know me, I’m all about service to the tracks. When Rusty asked for ways to get ready for the Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna, I hope he gets support from all of us.

Top 10 Ways to Perk Up the Governor’s Cup race weekend

10 Have a Don Nerone Look-A-Like contest
9 Fill the Governor’s Cup trophy with beer and let fans go bobbing for pigs feet
8 The Grand Marshall? Rusty Marcus dressed up like Michelle Obama.
7 Another nifty New Smyrna coupon: a small soda and a hot dog, only $6.
6 Quinella, Trifecta and Superfecta windows will stay open until the start of the pace laps.
5 Give paintball guns to 20 lucky fans, then wait for the starter to make a mistake…
4 Change Joe Winchell’s name to “Danica”.
3 Make it like Pee Wee soccer, don’t keep score and everybody wins!
2 Most horrible tattoo contest (women only)
1 Change the track length to kilometers so the race will be shorter.

now that is funny and can and should be done

Turn them around at the halfway point.:aetsch013:

11- Pace Truck Demo Derby. I hear we can get an entry all the way from Texas…

OOOOHHHHHH YEAH!!! I could win the demo derby…my truck out here is a 1 ton dually long bed 4 door…better know as the “Land Yacht”

The Michelle thing…I do not go sleeveless LOL LOL

oh come on Rusty it is for the tracl…lmao

start fastest car in the rear total invert
half way roll 3 dice for another invert

You want some seriousness?

Get rid of time trials. Go with heat races, based on practice speeds. 4 heats (or 3, depending on number of entries). 1, 4, 7, 10, etc. in first heat. 2, 5, 8, 11, etc. in next heat, and so on. INVERT the heats; give the “slower” guys a chance. 20-lappers. On Saturday night, to set the field for a Sunday afternoon show.

Run three - that’s it…THREE - support divisions on Saturday night: Sportsman, open-wheel Modifieds, and Strictly Stocks. Give the Sportsman and Strictlys a 25-lapper, and the Modifieds a 50-lapper.

On Sunday afternoon, run a “Last Chance” race. Have your qualifying-race winners from the night each come out, and roll one die. The total of all three dice is how many will get inverted for the 200. You could have…a three invert…or…all the way up to an eighteen (all sixes). Of course, that all depends on how many heat races you have.

Limit on tires - four for the race, plus the four on the car.

No “Sunday night” stuff…run it in the afternoon starting with hot laps at 10:00, last-chance race at noon, line-up at 12:45, drop the green at 1:15. IF the last-chance race doesn’t take the full 45 minutes, autograph/photo session on the frontstretch.

Just some suggestions…
