Billie Harvey Memorial Now a Part of the United Promoters Late Model Series

We are proud to officially announce that the 6th Annual Billie Harvey Memorial Race will now be part of the Florida United Promoters Series and will run April. 20, 2013 with a practice on Friday April 19th, 2013 from 5-10 at Auburndale Speedway. I want to personally thank Rick Williams (FUPS) for asking us to join their series and Rex Guy (Auburndale Speedway) for hosting our event. It is nice to have our traditional third Saturday in April date back and know we are scheduled in advance to make this a bigger and better race. After talking to Rick and Rex we feel better about the car count and people we are working with than I have in the last 2 years. We will be GIVING AWAY to the racers 55 gallons of race fuel as we did the 1st four years. Thanks to Southern Race Fuels and Sunoco Racing Fuels for the donation. Long time employee Rick Williams was very instrumental in making this happen. HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!!

Billie Harvey Memorial Race

Wanted to send thanks out to Jimbo Chadwick for keeping Billie Harvey’s memory alive with the Billie Harvey Memorial Race this Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway, April 20th. Hope to see all late model drivers at Auburndale Speedway in support of Billie’s memory as he would have been there for you if he were alive.:engel016:

Hoping to see many old timers at the Harvey race this weekend. Jimbo has put a lot of time and effort into this project since Billie’s pasting. If not for his tireless efforts this race would not happen, get out to “The Dale” on Sat. and show your support!

Don Nerone

Sounds like they plan on putting on a good show! Too far to drive for 50% plus chance of rain! Damn mother nature on the weekend!

Still racing tonight, 16 SLM so far. Partly cloudy, on track- Dutilly Anderson Dorer Green Guy Lil Anderson Webster Boyd Winchell Murphy Cataldi both Bigleys McNabb Brown Maresca

were are the rest of the cars should have had 23-25 supers there???

Heard its raining there now a little bit.

That’s a disappointing show of cars for a touring series. Especially since no other track had them last night.

I’m sure the threat of rain had a lot to do with the smaller than normal car count. After all several tracks had to cancel due to weather.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ONE LAP WONDER (jonathan guy) ???

the one lap wonder ran out of tire soak on lap 5…lol, the series gave him back his spot when he spun on his own, same old bullshit, different day. Wayne is getting back some of the money rex screwed him out of.

Looking over the names of the SLM drivers, it’s just a regular FUPS show. And not even all of the FUPS drivers showed up. I’ve already expressed my feelings on paying to see one of these FUPS races before and leaving the track feeling that I’ve been cheated.
I hope the Billie Harvey race grows again in the future, i’ve seen much better car counts for this race in the past. I don’t doubt that the weather played a part in the car count, but I think it has far more to do with the series itself than the weather.

the fups series i think lost a gfew good cars and drivers russel, perkins schofield , campi, and i think there are more is it the track or the promoter some of them don’t even show for a special event races .???WHATS UP

Billie Harvey

The rain,or the threat of it probably scared off a couple

Too bad.A field of 18 cars started the feature, with 2500 to the winner (Wayne Anderson) plus,20 bucks per lap,in laps led.Anderson led all but 6 laps with Billy Bigley leading the 6.

Bigley and Anderson were side-by-side for 12 laps, but Bigley burned up his brakes and had none at the end.Bigley did all he could do to retain 5th.

Dutilly,Webster, and Doerr never reallty challeged Anderson.Still a good race, although the weather did get cool.Next time i’ll remember a jacket.

I Heard It Was I Pretty Good Race ,some Were Upset About The Yellows That Came Out For The 42 Car, A Driver Was Having A Heated Talk With I Think He Said Rex After The Race .

Can Someone Fill Us In About This Again This Is What I Heard

I didn’t hear about any words being exchanged

But there was an incident where Dutilly got into the back of Billy Bigley coming through one and two while Bigley and Wayne Anderson were contesting the lead.It appeared Bigley’s response was to intentionally cut down into Jonathan Guy exiting turn two, wrecking Guy and ending his night.I believe it was mistaken retaliation on Bigley’s part and Dutilly even acknowledged in post race interviews that indeed it was himself that got into the back of Bigley.I was in the stands not thepits so I can only speculate on what happened post race but even though I’m not a big Johnathon Guy fan I couldn’t really blame him if he was upset afterwards.

You had one in my van Bozo

Next time I’ll carry it in for you and rent it to you when your nipples start getting cold. How’s 5 bucks sound?

Matt i don’t believe it was all about the weather either

And likewise I don’t blame it all on FUPS as a sanctioning body either.I think the weather played more of a factor in attendance in the stands being light but it seems like when FUPS put’s on a late model show at Citrus County the car count is always much better than what shows at Auburndale no matter if Citrus ran a couple weeks prior or after A-dale.This either reflects on the Guy’s as track owner’s or the tight configuration of a track famous for holding wreckfests, and some peoples views that they could win at A-dale and still lose if their cars get loaded up at the end of the night in many pieces. The car count deal happens at just about every track I’ve been to both here in Florida and up in Ohio in the last 3 years.Highest I’ve seen in the last 3 years—31 at Citrus,June 2011 lowest 12 at A-DALE two years ago 12 at Showtime in November 2012 Florida State Championship (really?) 12 at Desoto March 2011, Punta Gorda in 2011.And I know only 12 showed for the Cracker Race at New Smyrna this year.(Thankfully I didn’t drive all that distance for that one)Absolute worst Sandusky Ohio May 2012--------8.(Thank god they had 19 open wheel modifieds that same night)Now I know why they dropped their late model series for this year.I can go on with more examples but why beat a dead horse?
