I like the shuttle idea and I will bring that up to Kevin and Terry. It could be a temporary fix until they get the parking fixed. There is a commissioner that comes to the track often and loves it so we are completely on our own.
Something else most people don’t realize, as of last year the airport authority has spent well over 3.5 million dollars trying to make the airport enticing for the big airline company’s, which one of them just went bankrupt and closed down owing thousands of dollars in unpaid fuel bills and they just built a 2 million dollar communication tower, which was shortly hit by lighting after being built and had to replace all the new electronics, added on to the terminal for some insane amount of money, paved new runways, was involved with all the new roads, which i know some business were shutdown because they eminent domained all the land if they would not move,… That’s just the tip of the iceberg! the airport does not care about.the track due to future parking if and when the airport grows to a larger size, oh and ibforgot all the money invested went done the drain… They Don’t Care! Which they should! My grandfather raced here, my father has raced here. I have been going there for over 27 years now, since I was in my mother’s belly, and I have known all of em’ on a personal level from Leroy, Ed, Bobby,Kevin and they all were hasseled by the airport and if you truly care about the future.of the Speedway u should voice ur opinion to the airport authority instead of talking about rumors. I never intentionally “insult” anyone. Sometimes i just dont agree… i think im allowed that. i try very hard to be polite UNLESS someone puts my back up against the wall to fight. then i am an old lady high on adrenalin! rofllllll i thought some of the post were very positive and helpful. Sounds like it would be a good time for the track owners to buy the land from the airport, with some additional land for parking. If they are that broke (the airport) they may take an offer. As far as that ever becoming a big airport, I do not believe that could ever happen, Ft Myers and Sarasota are just to close. Every promoter that has had that place has had to deal with the other track owners starting rumors that the lease was up, and the airport is going to take it back. They either need to buy the property, or get a 99 year lease, so all this BS can stop. Any time you are renting or leasing property, it is hard to spend a ton of money on it, knowing you will never get it back!!..Joe
