East Bay Tires?

Heard East Bay went back to Hoosiers?Anyone know if this is true or just rumor?

Goodyear is getting out of short tracks in general. They’ve already said they’re done with WoO and AllStars after this year, and they’ve dropped Knoxville and all the Pa 410 sprint tracks already. So I’m sure East Bay will be moving on as well. I think Goodyear might be refocusing money on IndyCar or F1, both series have tire contracts coming up soon.

This could get ugly for the short track world. Goodyear backing out, along with the death of Bob Newton, tires could become a MAJOR issue.

Hoosier, I’m sure, will carry on… but there’s been no doubt since the beginning that Newton was the workaholic in the group. I don’t know if his successors have the vision, passion, or work ethic that Bob did. It wouldn’t surprise me a few years down the road (at most) that the Hoosier Tire Company has been sold to some corporate giant… whose sole purpose is PROFIT.

Goodyear basically bought there way into the “official tire” supplier market, drove up the pricing, and now bailing out.

I’m forecasting a tough future in racing tires remaining even remotely affordable. Some corporate big-wig will see this as a captive market, buy out Hoosier, and stick it to the racers for their tires.

Either that, or American Racer is gonna need to reallllllly step up production and development of short track tires for both dirt and asphalt.

Or somebody will contact the Asia connection and America will get race tires for so cheap that no North American tire companies will be able to keep up with the price.

Which I’m surprise nobody has done yet.

as of right now, outlaw4s still on good years… thats all i know… think were heading to bubba’s this week… looks like the only way we can race more… taken to much time off down here…

I was at East Bay Saturday night. The Late Models were allowed to run either GoodYears or Hoosiers. Jackie Nosbisch Jr. won the feature on GoodYears. There are two different compounds of Hoosiers available - 200’s and 400’s.
