She and her husband Lee instituted the Barfield Gift Fruit “Clean Sweep Award” several years ago in support of Florida Sprint Car racing… A special cash incentive to a driver who won both his/her heat race and the feature… They also helped numerous drivers both locally and several from out of state who ran here in February including Jack Hewitt and car owner Bob Hampshire…
Mr. and Mrs. Barfield are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. It is sad to read of Mrs. Barfield’s passing. Condolences to Mr. Barfield and family.
The Barfields are two of the most wonderful people who ever graced a race track and God knows they did plenty of that. I met them many many years ago at the top row at Eastbay Raceway. She had on a hat that must have weighed ten pounds of pins related to racing. She wore that hat every race night. We talked a little and immediately a friendship formed. I adore the Barfields and losing “Jeff” hurts so much.
If you ever got to know the Barfields you have been blessed. God bless you “Jess” and may He hold you in His loving arms. God take care of her husband of many years and bring him peace. I love you very much.
