The Top Gun Sprints made their tenth visit of 2012 to Bubba Raceway Park on Saturday October 13, 2012.The final night of The Florida State Sprint Car Championship there were 15 cars at the track to give fans two heat races and a 35 lap feature race.
Matt Kurtz in the 92 car had the pole with Robbie Smith in the 6S on the outside for the start of the PRO SHOCKS heat race. Matt took the lead on the start, then it was Tyler Godwin got around Matt took the lead and the win. The 3A of A J Maddox had the pole for the ROD END SUPPLY heat race, with Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car on the outside. On the start Mark took the lead then lap 3 he spins that gave the lead to Danny Martin and he never looked back and took the win.
The 92 of Matt Kurtz had the pole for the start of the SALDANA feature race event, with the 38T of Tyler Godwin alongside. On the start it was Tyler getting the best start; it didn?t last long as the 38T of Tyler Godwin over heated and pulled to the infield. That gave the lead to Danny Martin till lap 15 when he had problems and also pulled into the infield. That gave the lead to Matt Kurtz on lap 30 Kyle Pitts spun coming out of turn 4 and brought out the last caution. The restart it was still Matt out front and took the win of the second night Florida State Sprint Car Championship, followed by Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car, Robbie Smith in the 6S car, A J Maddox in the 3A car and Stephen Darvalics in the 24 car rounding out the top 5. The 12 of Colin Cabre had come in second, but was DQ in tech for improper heads. The FLORIDA STATE SPRINT CAR CHAMPION is MATT KURTZ.
