Congrats Boneman on the Rookie of the Year, you deserved the award. Great race last night between you & the 47. I believe you started the night one point ahead of him for the honors and you did what you had to do. 5th place in the heat and then (unofficial) 8th in the feature. IMHO your drive last night was by far the best I have seen you run this year. Looked like PGS really fit your style. Truly a great race night by yourself & the other 16 TBARA Sprinters that showed as the 30 lap main event was fantastic. Bad break for Bragg in the 66 (brakes). Kempgems #5 with his two runs torward the front, at the start and from the rear again after he was involved in the lap 15 caution. Teate #0 winning the race. Boneman you did one helluva job holding Garrett Green #3 at bay for lap after lap. Quite a few fans became very impressed with your driving as the #3 tried high & low, couple of times three deep into the turn, with you holding him off for the longest time. Was going to go down and meet you at the track but with what seemed like a thousand kids waiting in line I figured I’d catch up with you another time. Great job Rex. Next year give you’ll give them all they handle. CONGRATS again!!!

highfive’s

Was really fun nite at the track, good weather and all,big turnout of sprint cars,at lest 16plus or more at the track, and seeing Rex get Rookie of the year was great high point ,making the trip over from Miami seem short, super job Rex.#85:ernaehrung004:

It was a cool night indeed! Its kind of funny for a guy of my age to be a “Rookie”, but thats the way it came out, and I have to say I’m very pleased. To have my name in the TBARA record book is an amazing surprise that I never expected in a million years.

PGS sure looked good last night. I didn’t see much of the racing, but the stands had a good solid crowd, and it looked like everyone had a good time. I know the place was packed with kids for the Trick or Treat event! That is certainly a good sign for the track: where the kids want to go, the parents will follow.

Every sprint driver that I talked to loves racing at PGS. It is neat, clean, organized and best of all, the track surface itself makes for an interesting night.

As for me, I had a few bugs to work around. For some reason, my brakes were intermittent in the feature, so after a few hair-raising near incidents, I started giving them a pump going into every corner. The RR tire had a slow leak too. We went out with 14 psi and came in with 10 (instead of 18 or so). Everyone always has things to overcome, I’m lucky mine were on the small end of the scale.

Gotta give credit to Jason Bradford. He is the guy I was racing with for the ROTY. We’ve always got along well, and Jason came over to wish me luck before the race, and then was the first guy to offer congratulations. A classy move from a good guy!

My buddy Johnny Gilbertson won his second TBARA title in a row. He is super dedicated to sprint car racing and is such a talent behind the wheel. His wife and kids came out to watch, and so did mine for the first time. All things considered, it was a heck of a fine night.

We usually drive home after the race, but since my family was there we stayed over this time, which allowed us to have a pleasent breakfast with Carol Wicks. She is a good ole’ girl, and did my kids love hanging out with her.

Long live TBARA! On to 2013!

Rex…

loved “hanging out” with Steven and Christian! Well mannered fun kids. They really are the warmest loving boys. Patty is such a wonderful lady and I am so happy we finally met. Wish you lived closer so we could do it more often but these are great memories and I loved last night and this morning. Thank you for making it SPECIAL! I am also happy knowing the TBARA racers had a good time and I sure look forward to the next trip!

Congratulations, Rex. Pavement Sprint cars with wings ain’t no joke, and it’s certainly a HUGE step up from the 4-cylinder car.

Gotta give ya props for steppin’ it up and getting that RotY.

Way to go Rex well deserved, if you didn’t win for driving you should win for your love of racing no one cares more than you for the sport. Once again congratulation hope to see you at the Governors cup.

Tom

TC, would you believe that I have to miss the Governor’s Cup for the first time in many years? I’m going on Friday night, but my oldest son gets his karate black belt on Saturday night at race time. That is a once in a lifetime thing and I just can’t miss it. Too bad, the 200 is always neat and the modified race sounds like it will be even better. Hopefully Friday will be a good show.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Congrats.

Congrats sir well deserved!!!

Great job Boney… Havin’ fun then getting some honors too!

What color belt is your son getting? I’m sure you are proud… It can lead to bigger and better things… My daughter Megan is a black belt in both karate and kung fu and runs Mt. Song Karate Academy in Tampa… Could not be more proud of her accomplishments!

Congrats Boneman!!! It was great racing with you in 2012, I hope to do more in 2013. Well deserved buddy

@Dave. Agreed, its so cool to see your kids excell. He is getting a black belt in karate. My kid has been working on it for 8 years, he lifts and exercises every day, so there is no questioning his dedication to martial arts. Thankfully he is a good natured guy, because he is sure is lean and mean.

Ha, I’m having a good week!

Good job Rex!

I wish I could have gone to breakfest with you guys but I have an hour drive home and its usually 2:30 before I get in the bed and have to get up early for church. Congrats on your rooky win. Thats cool! Was good seeing you saturday. Good racing too!

Congratulations, Rex. see what years at Hialeah in a mini can do!
I’am sure at you will Have Four Wins in 2013!
Good luck!

Congratulations Rex!!! Will have to come see you race the sprint sometime.
