Almost there…
Good to see old guys Mario Maresca and Jimmy Doyle in the field!
Near perfect weather, a huge turn-out of cars, an excellent crowd, a two day long tail-gate party in the parking lot…yeah man that was a fun weekend at the track! I really enjoyed both nights of the Gov. Cup at NSS. They swung for the fence by putting on big money races, advertising for fans, and they ended up with a great result.
I missed the first half of the 200, and the second half could have benefitted from a yellow with 20 to go, but thats racin’. At least it drew in lots of out of state cars, championship quality ones too, like the good old days of the G.C.
I would have bet that 38 modifieds would have been a wreck filled marathon, but it really wasn’t. There were a few of course, but by half way, they were down to 20 and those guys knew their stuff. Yeah, it was a shame there was an ugly crash and conflict that took out a sure winner, more unfolding regarding that situation no doubt, but anyone who came to see a bunch of cars cannot be disappointed.
The Pro LM 100 on Friday was very entertaining too!
Rich Clauser’s quest for 400 laps of racing was cut short at 305. After a second on Friday and a good run in the 200, he was involved in a crash toward the front of the modified race after only 5 laps. Good try Rich!
As well as things appeared to go, I was amazed at two issues with the track. Both are easily fixed and the fans would appreciate the attention. First, there is not a single speaker from just past the start finish line all the way to the end of the stands in turn one. Yes, the main stands can hear fine, but in my opinion, the best seats in the house are down in one where fully half the length of the stands can’t hear a thing.
On Friday night, there was ONE working soap dispensor in the restroom. One for thousands of customers coming in on the busiest weekend of the year? I hope that someone fixed this for Saturday, but I didn’t go in to check.
Another car destroyed by Anderson
I think of one thing when I here the name Anderson in the racing community, that’s destroying others cars with bonehead moves to take the lead because they know they don’t have a car good enough to win, usually causing a bad crash taking out the car that is hooked up and surely able to take the checkered flag. Just another example last night when he pinched leader up the wall on restart destroying the kids car that should have won the Modified race! Not to mention the damage caused to the front stretch fence! I’ve seen this dirty racing from the Anderson’s since my Dad took me to the track when I was a boy. Such a shame to see it happen to so many drivers, no problem for Anderson, just pull out some more cash and buy another car! Sick and tired of their dirty racing! Just glad nobody was hurt!
The soap thingy in the pits mens room was no different. Soap in both dispensers, but would not give any… Someone cured that by ripping it off the wall, breaking it open, and leaving the rest in the big sink… did I mention no paper towels either… situation carried over to Saturday night too.
Gotz to remember to carry my own soap from now on.
Good talking with you,Roger,OSF,Derf,Michael, and that guy Frasson till 3am. Never noticed how much better his food tasted in the dark… After over 12 hours it’s still with me too…:sprachlos020:
See youse guys at the anal…um… annual Lil 500.
-Ge Um-
yes, it’s all good—
and it’s good to chit-chat with all those that showed up. the food, bbq, was good, indeed.
back home here again at my house, the food is now violently, loudly, leaving my intestines.
even my siberian husky dog wants to go to the neighbors yard, to get away from me.
that’s par for the course, as usual.
j/k
I am so sorry I missed the bbq but have a family emergency and could not leave early enough to go. But I did see some old friends at the track and luckily, was still able to walk today. I saw Lou and Johnny White, Scotty Williams (my favorite Williams), B.J. McLeod and wished him a Happy Birthday since yesterday was his birthday, Mary Jane and Darwin McLeod, Ricky Moxley, Kim’s new daughter and her older daughter. I also met some very nice people from Alabama and Matt Anderson’s grandmother who was accidentally hurt yesterday with a golf cart. All in all, I had a great time but had to leave shortly after the Governor’s Cup because of the family emergency, But my story is on the front page of karnac. But so sorry I missed all you guys.:):)
