NSS & OSW NASCAR Sanctioned

kind of elementary to me.
Back when the two tracks had racers and crows, LOTS of guys raced orlando fri and NSS Sat. Also I don’t completely agree the lack of crowds at OSW is due to the traffic. There are drivers who will take a day off from work and have a yard sale to pay for their racing. So it takes an extra half hr. to get there Fri. night? Not the problem. Its about the show, no show, no fans, no fans no cars. No change nothing gets better. They even started having toilet paper in the rest rooms, some times and the fans still didn’t come.

OSW lost fans because the racing got boring years ago. Improve the show and the fans will come. Proof is Crash-a-Rama at OSW, there is usually standing room only because there is an exciting show.

The only way an asphalt track can be exciting to watch is with a lot of racecars on the track. Anything less than 12 cars in a race is boring.

Going to Saturday night is the only way build car counts in my opinion. It has been proven that Fridays are not working.

Lower tire and fuel cost to attract cars and raise the purses. In my opinion, this will get cars to the track and a Saturday show will also draw in more cars that are not local.

Align rules with other tracks ! Don’t play follow the leader with NSS. Be the leader !

From what I’m hearing, both tracks aren’t gonna benefit from this as far as the racers go! It’s gonna be the same ole boring saturday night shows!!! Considering they aren’t allowed to bring in the FUPS Latemodels, Modifieds, Trucks or Sportsman series!!! As a matter of fact last I saw they aren’t allowed to run any non nascar sanctioned series at either track!!! Now how does that support the local short tracks, racers, and fans?? Help cause i’m not understanding it!!!
In my opinion, this will get cars to the track and a Saturday show will also draw in more cars that are not local.
I’m not quite sure I follow this logic. Cars that “are not local” are probably already running at one of the other Saturday-night tracks - Auburndale, Showtime, Inverness, DeSoto, etc. Orlando was unique in that it was THE only Friday-night track; might not have drawn in the fans and race cars, but it was still the only place to run on Fridays.

Remember years ago? Palm Beach on Friday, Hialeah on Saturday.

When Bradenton first opened, it was a Friday-night joint; then it was on St. Pete on Saturday.

When Tampa (Golden Gate) reopened, it was a Friday-night place; then to St. Pete on Saturday. Bradenton then went to Saturday nights.

After Tampa closed again in '83, Inverness went to Friday nights, and then again, back down to Sunshine on Saturdays.

Nowadays, it seems every track thinks they have to run on Saturday nights. Up here, we have a zillion different race tracks, and they (just about) all run on Saturdays. But, they all draw cars and fans. How do they make it work? They all have similar divisions - with similar rules. Cars are able to travel to different tracks if they so choose. Only one “touring” series in the state that I’m aware of, but they also run in Michigan and Indiana. The tracks don’t all run “their own” set of rules, keeping cars and drivers at one track.

Seems to work up here.

I think Saturday night is best for Orlando and getting the track back on it’s feet and if that means working it out with NSS then that is what I would do but it isn’t my money. It’s just tough to make it there on Friday night for a lot of people that would come more often if racing was on Saturday nights that I’ve talked to. When the question was asked by show of hands which night to run Saturday came out on top. Then the question was asked who would race Orlando on Friday the Saturday at NSS and I might of seen 6 hands raised. For the most part in the upper classes there is only a hand full of teams that can afford to race back to back nights.
I do wish Ozzy and Orlando the best of luck on which ever night he decides to run. I think he is in this for the long haul and made the statement that he would do what was best for the track. I think he can turn Orlando around.

I have a feeling this is going to hurt OSW and NSS being that racers are not allowed to race if they do not buy a license. If guys aren’t going to race there on a regular basis, they aren’t going to show up on an off week from another track if they have to spend an extra $95 or $190 to race once or twice a year.

Think about the out of towners for the Gov Cup…this just added $190 to their bill…and I guess that will mean speedweeks also…

And I saw on another thread that there will be no traveling series events either. No FUPS or TBARA i guess either…

I can’t see this helping really to change a few signs to NASCAR and offer a little better insurance to the drivers who hopefully don’t ever need it. From what I understand this is actually a financial savings to Robert.

Out of towners can buy a 10 day license for like $25. That should elimnate the argument that the Gov Cup is gonna suffer because of Nascar.

OSW didn’t completely write off other series either. They would just have self insure for events not sanctioned by Nascar.

If i am may say something the Act tour races quite a few tours all thru New England at: Stafford, Thompson,NSS, Alburndale and quite a few others so let’s hope it will not hurt OSW or NSS.

Most of them already have a NASCAR license.

I dont think there is any restrictions on running non nascar sanctioned events at a nascar sanctioned track. Kalamazoo Speedway run several non nascar events as did several other nascar sanctioned tracks up north. Dont know of any reason they cannot do something like the FUP deal but maybe that is the tracks choice for some reason, that I would not know.

doe anyone know anything about the rules, sportsman mainly

Beech Ridge in Maine, Nascar sanctioned track for years, runs PASS and ACT tour races.

Nascar will not forbid you to run non Nascar series race, BUT, let’s say as an exemple, there is a Nascar Modified Series in your area, competing against one other Non Nascar Modified series, they would certainly not appreciate if you choose the other one instead of theirs.

from what I understood they said they would stay with what the rules that they have been going by for now .

The last season Ocala was paved, they rotated divisions and I think it worked out great and Ocala always had the pits packed (compared to other asphalt tracks within an hour or so). I thought they were crazy for going to dirt - proves what I know… Get this, there are going to be 3, THREE, tracks within 70-80 minutes of each other that are going to run the same rules (at least in their Emod divisions) so you are not contrained to a single track and Ocala is again going to rotate their Emods on a schedule. What a concept.
