when/where?
Sorry Thursday night at 7:30 at speed world
Just curious is it the new owners or are they leasing?
This is getting to be very humorous. I guess one could say, Ozzy is the owner of the lease. Confused more ?
I saw this on Facebook:
Just to clear the air and to set the record straight: I Ozzy and my wife Maria Moya have purchased the assets of Orlando Speedworld Circle Track and have leased the property for the next 20 years. We look forward to bringing the same type of improvements to the circle track as we have been able to accomplish at the Lakeland Dragstrip. We will strive to make it one of the premier circle track facilities in the south east. It will take time and we appreciate all input and everyone’s patience as we move forward with this new endeavor. We will announce a schedule of events as soon as possible. For all those people who doubt or think differently or don’t understand, a press conference and press release (media only) will be given on Friday January 18th at New Smyrna Speedway at 1 pm.
Ps: As for the Dragstrip, I am not at liberty to talk about any potential dealings at this time. I am awaiting the arrival of Carl Weisinger back from his well deserved vacation. At that time, Carl, Myself and my wife Maria will continue our negotiations and hopefully the three of us will be able to come to some kind of agreement. Thank you, Ozzy
**** we have no plans on shutting down the Lakeland Dragstrip. We will continue to operate that facility expanding on as well.with the same kind of enthusiasm as always. We also plan on continuing with improvements there. The Orlando Speedworld circle track is a new venture that we are excited about.
Ozzy, are you going to raise the purse for the classes? I hope so or the low car counts will remain the same I would love to race there but when I did last time was very disapointed with the payoff. Thanks
Well, with some ownership, at least they will feel good about making things better and investing.

new owners
Just met the new owners today. Great people. They seem to have the racers best interest in mind and are very sincere in wanting to bring the track back.
Barbara and Butch will be back. Please show your support by attending Thursday’s meeting. They want to hear our input and this is our chance to help bring the track back.
Will they have plans to fix the weeping, repave, new grandstands, or anything like that?
Don’t know, but that’s what Thurday’s meeting is about, voicing our concerns and suggestions.
I heard that that’s why the FUPS practice on the 26th was cancelled, so that they could fix the weeping problem. I heard that they actually wanted to repave the whole track while they were doing this but decided against it since it would delay the racing season too long. Sounds like they are looking to put some serious money into the place to turn it into the gem we know this place can be. Last I heard is the Butch and Barbara will continue to handle running things on the racing end. Nothing but good news all around in my opinion. :ernaehrung004:
well the only way they are going to fix the track weeping is to rip it up and fix the drainage and then repave it. and stop having crasharama . thats what tore up most of the track . how many times did the races get cancelled after it rained because the track had water coming out of it alot. if they dont do anything it will be the same as last year. I would rather delay racing and get it fixed .
Lets wait till Thursday night PLEASE !!!
C’mon Man. Can’t we wait for the meeting to ask questions ? What we need is a positive attitude from all involved, especially the racers. We have a great opportunity to start over and do great things. We are all aware of the problems we have had in the past. Let them be in the past and not dwell on them !!!
PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Ozzy Moya. My wife Maria and I have purchased all the assets of Orlando Speedworld Circle track and have leased the property for the next 20 years. We are already working on improvements and updates to the property and have a long range goal of many more improvements for the future. As owners of the Lakeland Dragstrip we are planning on bringing the same enthusiasm and energy to the circle track racing industry that we have with the dragstrip. NASCAR has come onboard with us and we look forward to a long partnership of bring both the racers and the spectators the best forms of racing entertainment possible.
There will be a meet and greet at Orlando Speedworld Circle Track this Thursday, January 24th at 7;30 pm. Rob Duval from NASCAR, myself and my wife will be there to introduce ourselves and to answer any questions you may have about schedules, events, series?, and the future of Orlando Speedworld Circle track. Snacks will be available at the meet and greet as well as good friends from throughout the racing community. We are excited about this amazing opportunity to bring a new energy to circle track racing in central Florida, and are looking forward to meeting and talking to all of you. Thanks, Ozzy and Maria
I wonder if racing in the winter vice the “monsoon” season will be considered?
Either way, we are lucky OSW didn’t close. Now it’s up to us to bring our cars.
Also, when someone searches the net for Orlando Speedworld you get the drag strip and no link to the circle track. I see someone owns the domain name www.orlandspeedworld.com. So buy it and get an Internet presence going.
Be there Thursday.
Eddie
Thats because it is www.orlandospeedworld.org
I’m optimistic. Like Lizzard said, we couldve lost the speedway. I will do whatever I can to support the Moya’s and the racing in my hometown. I’ve travelled all over the country for racing. Looking forward to being home a little more.
