So why did osw cancel tonight??? I am now 120 in the hole with tickets for them.
I think an explaination is needed/required

I’ve been told its an insurance issue. The other day, they posted that this would be a “non-Nascar” event, which means their insurance wouldn’t be in place. Without that, they may be either UN-insured, or UNDER-insured without that Nascar policy.
anybody in the OSW management ever heard of this phrase:
‘‘When you realize you’re in a hole, first thing is to quit digging…’’
Again more money wasted with only a 1 hr notice. I didn’t build a new smyrna rear end because was told everything would be ok!! Guess I should have just built it, now I don’t even have enough time to get something together to get somewhere else!!
Like i said in many posts, there doomed, welcome the Harts back in 2014 , s
Who wants to be part of the solution? We have heard from a few who want to stand on the sideline and declare that we are “doomed” before ever running the first event. A little cynicism is ok sometimes; it can be funny and even a little constructive. But at a point like this; when we are hoping that things can get started in the best way possible, it really doesn’t help to encourage participation.
Eddie, I get the frustration of having a new racecar and not being able to air it out on the track. Florida is full of options, you just have to travel to get there. But if you want to run at a local track, one where you won’t tear up as much stuff (less traffic at the moment), and enjoy the best racing surface in Florida, then hang in there with Speedworld.
I sold all 3 stock cars because I got hooked on open wheels. Now I wish I had a bomber car to take out there, just to support the track. But since I don’t, I’ll still go out there and have a good time helping with my friends’ cars. SOMEBODY is still going to win, so it might as well be someone I know. We gotta try at least!
I was tryin to be part of the solution!! I also didn’t spend 10k+ to tow my truck around and get it ready only to be told a race is cancelled 1 hr before the gates open!! The problem isn’t that they cancelled the race, it’s the time frame we were notified in. My day would have went much better if I knew on Friday that they were not going to hold an event. I could have woke up Saturday morning and prepped it for another track. Instead I was 25 mins from OSW when I received a Facebook notice of the cancelled race. At 330 i drove from OSW to Oviedo to borrow a rear end for NSS then drove to to NSS. I drove in the back gate at 4:30. Because this was such a rush we swapped the rearends with the borrowed one only to find out the bolt pattern was different on the borrowed rear so had to pull it back out and put the orlando gear back in it. Now I’m at NSS with a 3.73, I’m sure you guys know how that went!! Lol I didn’t mind at all though I just drove it in 3rd only doing 5600 but went from 12 to 7th and had a ball!!
My point is all that could have been avoided with a few more hours notice!! It’s hard to support something when they don’t support you. I have no sides in this fight.
I do have to say that this though, last night has been the most fun I have had at at race track in a LONG time!! The people at NSS were great, helped me out with any question I had with a smile on there face. I will definitely be back, with the right gear this time though!! Lol
Eddie, you misunderstood me. You had your racecar loaded up and were heading to the track, so you were clearly part of the solution. I was addressing Mr. Najoe, who loves to proclaim the track’s demise.
As far as the timing of the announcement, well I understand that this decision didn’t come down until early afternoon. At least you got a night of racing in somewhere.
Could have come to Citrus
Eddie, Just pointing out the FUPS Pro Trucks were @ Citrus last night, missed a great show!
Boneman, You could have been talking to me when you said…“Eddie…”
We have met before, Eddie here. I too want to be part of the solution. I was loaded (on the trailer, not with booze) last week, sitting in the rain and ready to go. Since I run BOMBERS (love the name of my class now), I knew I could wait and still get there in time for my race if it STOPPED raining.
Last night, had a little bird tell me it “might” not happen. So, once again, I sat at home, 45 min out and waited. Alas, no race.
You want a bomber to drive? I can’t always make the race due to being gone for work… I’ll trade a race or two for a couple laps in that hot rod of yours. Not a race but a practice session…
Back to OSW. I think most of us realize what is happening. Too many “managers” have said the same thing. NO MONEY allowed to be spent by current lease holder. Too bad. Maybe planned from the start, who knows.
NSS is trying to become a BIGGER track. Maybe OSW was too much of a drain on that.
Bottom line, when it opens, if ever, we need to be there.
Im sorry if I ruffled some feathers, I would love to see speed world make , Its my favorite track in Florida, But please face facts, its going to take some big $$ for the track to make a come back, support from us is not going to do it. It will help , can u Imagine losing a NASCAR support. Someone with deep pockets that can put up big purses and ADVERTISE is needed to save the track, How would you like to be a employee of the track , no races in weeks, no pay , who is going to be the support group that shows up saturdays ?
Rick, I will be a FUPS participant soon! This was only the second time I have even driven a stock car, as soon as I get a few races under my belt I’m there!!!
