Kevin Swindell, son of Sammy, will get a shot in the Swan Racing #30 driven until recently by David Stremme.
The coolest part of the story, to me, was the ‘breath of fresh air’ comments from the team owner.
He said “I’m not looking for someone who can bring money, I want someone young who can DRIVE”. He also mentioned that “I’m only 34 myself, and I want a young driver to grow with”.
There will be a few guys in that car this year including (if I dont have my stories crossed with the 51 team), including Ryan Truex.
Pretty cool to see a couple of RACERS get a chance rather than just another rich-daddy’s-boy, or another family connection to get their own kid behind the wheel. Also known as ‘Steven Wallace Syndrome’.
Correction - it wasn’t this team Truex will drive for, it is the Harry Scott 51, the former James Finch, Phoenix Construction team.
Last week Justin Allgaier made his debut, this week has Michael McDowell in it, plus there are plans for both Ryan Truex and Kyle Larson to make starts yet this year.
Must be something in the racing fuel. Bobby Allen’s going racing on the WOO tour with his son and grandson. The son is a year younger than his grandson.
Sprint cars run methanol Sir. Get your facts straight before you post. Sorry couldn’t resist after seeing some of the dumb arguing and bantering on here the last few weeks. I had no Idea that was Bobby’s son but I did know Schuhart (spelling) was his grandson. Pretty cool. I used to own and race a Bobby Allen sprint car. Talk about a light and fast piece. John 1*
