We are pleased to announce that JEGS has become the title sponsor for the 48th Annual JEGS Florida Governor’s Cup 200. The Super Late Model 200 will now pay $10,000.00 to Win, with the JEGS Pro Late Model 100 on Friday paying $5,000.00 to the Winner. The remaining money has been put towards Lap Sponsorship so that 100% of the Sponsor money can go directly to the drivers.
The 48th Annual JEGS Florida Governor’s Cup 200 presented by Bright House Network kicks off on Thursday October 24th with weekly divisions racing along with Practice and Tech for the Super and Pro Late Models. Friday October 25th it’s the JEGS Pro Late Model 100 along with 50 lap races for the Mini-Stocks and E-Modifieds. The third and final day of action will feature the JEGS Florida Governor’s Cup 200 for the Super Late Models and a $5,000.00 to win 100 lap race for the ‘Open’ Modifieds.
25 Pre-entries at this point, not including Kyle Benjamin who said he ‘has it on his schedule’.
The Pro Late field will start filling up now too, and I can’t imagine the Jegs-sponsored race going off without Cody Caughlin, a very strong relative newcomer to the oval track world… and a member of the “Jegs” family.
Yep, but I start eating around 1 pm… and I’m not going to eat between Oct 1st and the Gov Cup… (so I’ll be real hungry)… Jerry’s BBQ is the best in town (well, at least at NNS)… bring a bunch Jerry…and OcalaJim…tell the wife to bring her tater salad… I’ll bring my knife and fork… OSF
Sounds like this might be a good show. I’d like to try to make it myself. I have a trip to Texas planned that week and will have to see how I feel when I get back. Long drive there and back in a few days. If I make it, I’ll use my nose and find the bbq. If I can’t smell it, I’ll just look for a towering OSF. If I can’t make it, have a great time everyone and I hope the race is a success. Prospects are looking good.
A conspicuous one that is missing is the 9 of Clouser. Odd to not see him on the list.
I asked Bubba Pollard on twitter if he was coming now that Jegs is a part of it and got no response. Hoping he is coming.
Frankly the mod and PLM fields are lighter that i would have figured at this point. I know last year the mod list was light and on raceday it was full. Hoping that happens again, same with the PLM’s and even SLMs. 26 cars for 10k seems light.
I will give NSS its due - they have really stepped things up over the past few years with this race. Definitely going to be there.
Same here Bubba I have tweeted Pollard before with no reply. I also tweeted Pelletier with no answer. The only one of the new hot shots that have responded was Chase Elliott last year. I was hoping Pelletier would run again this year he was really fast but got d/q for I think left side weight.
That DQ took Pelltier out of a top-5 finish. I’m ‘guessing’ he’ll be back.
I haven’t followed this at ALL, but are there any conflicting ‘big’ races that weekend? I haven’t heard of any.
Would love to see guys like TJ Reiad, Donnie Wilson, Mike Garvey, … and PLEASE… someone be smart enough to put Jeff Choquette behind the wheeel of a competitive car…!
Brad May will be there in a brand new super, they are kicking around the idea of bringing the #11 pro, but they are pretty focused on running the pro in the snowflake in December.
