Guess who is driving at Orlando?

Imagine this blaring over the PA at Speedworld…

“And starting in the scratch position tonight, he is a drag racing veteran who is making his first ever oval track start tonight. Behind the wheel of the Mauler’s Ford Probe #6.7, this is the owner of Orlando Speedworld, Ozzy Moya!”

That’s right race fans, Speedworld owner Ozzy Moya will be making his oval racing debut in the 4 and 6 cylinder stock enduro race that will be held during Crasharama on 11-29. Ozzy is really looking forward to meeting all the other drivers, and then going at it for 50 laps. A good time will be had by all!

Although this is his first actual oval race, it is not his first time on the track. Ozzy admits to some mid-week test sessions around Speedworld in his daily driver, a 2012 Mustang. Why not? The guy is a gearhead like the rest of us.

After spending 2013 rebuilding business at the drag strip, Ozzy and his staff have directed their attention to the oval track. They are aggressively promoting the two remaining events for this year; Crasharama on 11-29, and the TBARA sprints on 12-7. There will be TV, radio, printed stuff and plenty of appearances for both race nights. They are dedicated to getting our track back on its feet.

By the way, the December 7’th race night will have the same classes as the original June rainout, and of course the June wrist bands will be honored.

Yeah, 2013 was a rough year for the oval track. I hope that you will come out to one or both of these excellent race nights that are coming up. You’ll have a great time and help to get the life pumping through the veins of Orlando Speedworld!

I would clap if he cleaned the lady’s room first…

I thought mcnabb was going to be there lol

Go ahead and start clapping.

neither one of these events were ever lacking in the advertising department to begin with. sorry but its going to take A LOT more to get anyone to buy into this idea of OSW making a comeback. after all didn’t we hear this same thing @ the beginning of the yr? when consistent effort is made to draw in people for the weekly divisions I’ll be impressed.

yea we have heard this song and dance before :musik010: I will belive it when I see it .

Wow,you guys cry like a bunch of grown women. He took over Mid stream this year.He had Nascrap involed. You have to give hime a chance for next year.It is a business and he does have to put his best foot forward.Did he do that? Most likely not,But in all fairness next season would be the best shot a NEW owner could do to get OSW back on track.
Do you really think all will be fixed in 5 races,10 races or one year ,No!!
Give the man a chance and stop crying the blues…
Rob

Rob,that’s a great story… not true but good none the less. how exactly did he take over “midstream” this year? he had it from before the season started. nascrap? lol apparently that is a determining factor in his efforts? nascrap is so horrible… haven’t heard nothing about NASCAR not being involved 2014. and NSS seems to be dealing with them pretty well. you are pretty optimistic about him doing a full 180 when he has shown nothing remotely convincing. benefit of the doubt was given all season. the simplest things that would have shown any effort weren’t done. mowing, useable bathrooms, updating an already existing website, communication with the fans and racers… come on… do you really believe he made ANY effort?? and no one is crying here, just telling it how it is. before trying to bash on people try to get the facts straight and use a little common sense.

… a lot will have to be shown to be taken seriously. playing that he is turning things around for these last 2 events is comical. these events do not represent anything with the weekly shows. they sell themselves. I hope he proves me wrong, and I will be the 1st to compliment if I see something worth doing so.

Rhino don’t you realize yet that these guys live their lives perfectly (never seen it yet) and they expect everyone to do the same. I have not seen people be more critical of others than on this site. Ozzy should lose money to keep these people happy. I’m sure that will never happen.

no, we aren’t perfect. it used to be a man’s word was worth something. the man gave a whole lot of hope by the things he said and never followed through, he had people putting hard earned $ into race cars to race at his track based on his word. the season was a washout with zero effort given other than the 2 gm’s that quit because of hands being tied. did he not get the memo that this track was in the shitter when he took it over(before his opening speech)? why the hell am I hearing “poor ozzy” stories? are you guys drag guys? are we even talking about the same track?!

I don’t know how old you are but if this was the first person who didn’t fullfill his promise, you have lived a gifted life. Quite a few tracks (in this state) have missed on their opening dates and other ambitions but eventually fullfilled them ie Showtime, Desoto/full throttle, and Bubba, the guy at Volusia hauled ass in mid season and he wasn’t condemned near as much as Ozzy and by the way I have no dog in this fight just have to go somewhere else for racing.

I wish I lived that gifted life… him not fulfilling his word means nothing to me personally, but after intentionally kicking the track to the side against his word, now all of a sudden its time to praise him because he is advertising aggressively the 2 events that advertise for themselves? and no criticism can be said, no doubt can be had without the “poor ozzy” crap. its everything and everyone else’s fault, NASCAR, no turn out for the 1st race, new to oval racing, started mid season… etc.etc. all I’m saying is what little people tried to support him this year aren’t going to forget the 2013 season that easily. and to the very few that are supporting him now… did you see something this that I didn’t that gave you any reason to believe 2014 would be any different? see…in my opinion, if someone goes back on his/her word once, a smart man wouldn’t bet on this person to keep his/her word again.

Scott “Brickwall” Bertram, there is a logical flaw in all of your posts. You want to condemn someone for something they have not done yet. Yeah, 2013 was a disaster at the oval track, he knows that. This year, his effort and attention was on a different aspect of his business, which he successfully rebuilt.

What amazes me is your aggressive insistence that he won’t do things differently. How do you know? Have you seen the new website that is about to launch? I have, its beautiful. Have you seen the work done at the track? No, you haven’t, but you are certain that it hasn’t been done.

“These 2 events advertise themselves?” You are kidding, right?

creative nickname, lol. kinda like it actually. no, I can honestly say I haven’t seen the new website, I have heard it was in the making for the whole season.
as far as the work done to the track… if any work has been done since October 19th no I haven’t seen it. might be a good idea to show it so people have something to get excited about.

the sprints have a following, always have. not to mention people have had tickets for that show for some time now…

crasharama has been established and very successful long before ozzy took over, and I’m doubtful that even with 1 weeks notice that the fan base would be effected much. people know approx. when that show comes and are waiting for it.

many people don’t know OSW for anything OTHER than Crasharama and the drags.

I’m not condemning anyone, and 1 very simple resolution to prove me wrong that hasn’t been done to date… show us. when I see the website that took a season to build, I will be impressed.

when I see communication with the fans and racers that isn’t top secret… I will be impressed

A schedule, a plan of attack, anything… “2014 will be a bright year at OSW” is pretty vague to say the least.

when ozzy took over I was one that was complementing on the work that was done before the season started. pit entrance/exit is a lot better, laid sod, painted, put up a few banners. but that’s where the effort stopped.

a little off topic here, but Boneman are you the new GM? if not… u should consider it. u seem to have a nack for Damage control.

Yeah, I kinda liked “Brickwall” too! Its a friendly jab, not an insult. I should have been more clear on that.

Until something happens that everyone sees, can we agree on one thing? Lets look forward. If we look back, we get paralyzed by a past we can’t change.

Rex… You didn’t answer his question…

And if the bathrooms are kept clean…I promise to be nice…

I went back and read some things…I was bit of a bitch…sorry

boner

Bone Man for GM of Orlando Speedworld.
I think that would be a great idea.
If he will take the job ill sponsor the flowerie bathroom paper. LOL
OK time for ur other half to respond

Hope both events are good. This might get him to work at the weekly show.
The norman response from a new promoter is to have 6 big events a year and run the drag track the rest of the time

Hope for the best
Don62

He took over mid stream. REALLY !! He rebuilt the drag strip LOL. well I can’t wait till he gets to the circle track and rebuilds it . I am sure WE all are going to be flabbergasted :sprachlos020: when he gets done with OSW.

The answer is “of course not”. I love the track, and have been an interested observer and participant for many years. Currently, I volunteer for TBARA, so between that, my racecar and my two racing sons, I AM BUSY!

Besides, every day I kiss the front door of my real job, and thank my lucky stars that I don’t have to make a living in racing.
