I just had this e-mailed to me and felt the need to share it with all my fellow OSW supporters. Expect to see you all there. LOL !

Don’t be late or you might miss out on the $10 VIP parking.

65.00 to drift 10.00 VIP parking where ? and 12.00 front gate at osw? LOL oh boy LOL too funny!! .and people use to complain about 20.00 to get in the pits to race and 12.00 at the front gate.

so much for 2014 being a great year huh?? facebook post

Scott Bertram If you expect people to support ANY venue at this track it would seem logical to notify the public of the tracks intentions. A practice is scheduled for Friday… do we have anything to practice for? A schedule would be nice but I think at this rate most of us would be happy just knowing what classes will be ran if any at all. and will it be on a regular basis? It should go without saying that a lot of time and money goes into getting these cars ready, people that have been sitting here waiting for the track to at least say something could now potentially be behind on points at other tracks because of their dedication to this track. Not off to a great start here in 2014 so far…

Orlando Speedworld Oval Track Thanks for your comments Scott Bertram . As I have made public here on facebook already. On the schedule there is currently 2 FUPS races, 3 TBARA Wing Sprints, 2 Crash-O-Rama and a handful of drift events. Thats what I have. Right now there is nothing more. I will announce the classes for those races shortly.

Scott Bertram ok, the way it was worded earlier… I apparently misinterpreted it as though you were still deciding what was best for the track and would let us know. From all the hype at the end of 2013 about 2014 being a great year at OSW I took it as we could expect more than 5 races. thank you for clearing that up.

Hey, could be worse. For instance, more than two FUPS ( what a dumb name for a series ) ’ races " scheduled.

I guess. it is a pretty dumb name. I’m curious to see what kind of turnout they get with these drifting events, the location seems to be ideal, Orlando is full of kids that are into drifting but I find it hard to believe that the results will be any better by replacing oval racing with other venues.
time will tell.

All drifting does is load the surface up with little tiny pieces of steel off the belts that cause flats for the stock cars. They run the tires down past the steel belts till they blow. That happened before. Unless they run the track after these drifting events, watch out FUPS and Sprints.

Holy crap. Really??? That’s all they have??? Geezz… Would be nice so us PAYING customers can plan ahead…

Picture says it all.

You have to credit OSW for getting out front and showing you the kind of car to build for 2014!. No need to bother with big, heavy, strickly / super / sportsman etc. Look at the time and money they just saved you. Who says OSW doesn’t care about the people who race there?
With all the money they just put back in your pocket, paying $65 to blow out your tires should be a breeze. Heck, everyone will be able to buy a new set every week, (which you couldn’t afford to do before). Also, now they will offer “VIP” parking. It will help with the overflow of people trying get in or run out of the place. Parking in the “VIP” section means you won’t have to be there a minute more than you can stand!.
Face it fellows, regular circle track racing is nothing more to them than an annoyance they have to deal with every now and then.
What’s next, drift o rama?

the VIP parking has me baffled… you mean to tell me they actually believe that parking will be an issue? i was considering going to the practice tonight but then it dawned on me… what has the track done to justify supporting it? even if you had 50 SLM’s show up would it really convince them to run us? Last year they had a decent turn out at the end of the year for SLM’s “to keep us on the schedule”. how did that work out? all this crap about the new GM being here for 2 weeks is shit. was he not brought up to speed? does he not know anything about last year at all? did Ozzy not clue him in that it’s a oval track not a parking lot?!

Ozzy really has no desire for the weekend racers to come back, he didn’t do anything last year to get it going and he wont this year.

That should get Ozzy excited to do things for the racers if I was him and read these posts I would certainly go out of my way to make it work.

you are kidding right? I think a lot of people have this idea that the racers need to kiss ass to be able to race. It’s quite the contrary, he bought/leased into a track, (a business) he has promised things to his clients (racers and fans) and never even attempted to deliver. When they make any effort people talk and get excited… look back to when they cleaned the bathrooms and mowed the grass… people were praising them!! (pretty sad if you ask me). It’s really simple : treat the racers and fans the way they deserve to be treated, post a schedule, rules, payout, advertise, keep up on the grounds maintenance and upgrades when needed, just the normal… ya know… all the stuff that he does at the drag track. The racers and fans will come. Volusia does good, Bubba does good, New Smyrna is doing better, what do all 3 have in common? Effort, & more communication. The excuse that the economy is shit, the short track scene is gone, more and more excuses. The truth is people are disgusted, fans and racers alike.

just for the record, this posting alone in 4 days has had over 700 views. every other OSW related post has many more views. very few posts on karnac related to tracks get these numbers (other than special shows) Think people are watching to see what OSW does? now, how many have interest in OSW that don’t know about karnac? I myself was one for 10 years. Then we have the website that has nothing updated on a regular basis and no info at all half the time, same with Facebook. Then the old school way of calling… still no straight answers if you can even talk to anyone. This track could boom if Ozzy would make a commitment to making it work, and stick with it. He obviously does not want the headaches of it. Drag racing is where its at for him, nothing else. the sooner people realize this the better other tracks that do at least make some effort have a chance to grow.

If he were to get it together, I would be the 1st one giving the “adda boy” and would commit to running at OSW. Now how many feel the same way but not the type to get on here and lay it out like me??

I agree with you scott.100% .

thank you, thought I was flying solo here for awhile lol.

Yea they have there big practice tonight they dont tell you what classes they are going to run this year . No rules posted, no schedule no tires why would anybody go out.

You guys need to just take what is happening at OSW and move on…Ozzy leased the track or business as you say so he can do whatever he wants with it and run it as he sees fit…I would be willing to bet that he has a much better turn out at the drifting events (not sure if VIP parking is needed) than any weekly race at OSW in the last 3-5 years. and HE DOESN’T HAVE TO PAY ANY PURSE MONEY!!! Win Win for Ozzy. THey started this method in drag racing 5 or 6 years ago…they have 1 points race a month and then have the test and tune on Fridays and make a killing on gate and again HE DOESN"T HAVE TO PAY ANY PURSE MONEY!!! How is this not a smart move for him as a BUSINESS man…HE is going to have 5 or 6 “stock car” events and I would imagine the turnout for those will be as good or better than the typical weekly night. IF they are succesful, I am sure he would add a few more special event stock car races. My bet is that the special events will be more succesful if he adds 2 or 3 other classes and makes them 50 or 100 lappers and pays a good purse because people all over the state LOVE to race at OSW…just not on a weekly basis evidently…this goes back to the “do we race to much in Florida” question…if you as a driver will only have 1 or 2 chances a year to race at OSW and they are bigger events you are going to go…if he has a sportsman 50, and say a super stock or mini stock 50 along with the TBARA events, I bet he has great car counts…better attendance than usual and finally could make money at a stock car event…

Weekly racing is done at OSW and I personally think it is a great move…he cannot cater to 20 or 30 racers that show up most weeks and continue to lose money…he has made a decision to change the business model of his facilities and attempt to create a succesful business. Obvioulsy if Robet Hart was making money at OSW he would not have leased it to Ozzy…

It may have taken him a bumpy road to get here but thats part of life…he tried to hire “stock car racing” guys to run it and it stayed status quo because they ran it like every other track they have worked or raced at…he is now bringing a new set of eyes from outside of racing and brings a new perspective…I think stock car racing in general could benefit from the same thing.

It may not be what you like or convenient for you but I think it will be very succesful going forward…

I’m pretty sure we all get what he is doing and why. although I highly doubt drifting is the answer that’s his decision. What is the need for stringing people along though? Why not communicate? You can do it, I can do it, shit… a chimp can do it. So why leave 2013 saying one thing, and string people along all the way until now (and still doing it)? last I looked still no schedule, still no word from the track officially. You still have guys thinking that if they bend over backwards they can get Ozzy to do something and the track promotes this false thinking. But lets get it straight… OSW is done as far as weekly racing because of lack of interest and leadership, NOT because racers wont show up regularly. that was the point that i was making.

Personally I don’t care what he does with it, plenty of other tracks to run in Florida.

I do agree that stock car racing in this area as a whole needs a new set of eyes and direction, the problem is they just keep rotating the same “clicks” of people. might be beneficial to take a look at other states that have booming tracks and try to recruit someone from them. Although the same old “this is the way we do it in Florida” mentality kills this idea.

Everybody just needs to accept the fact that stock car racing at OSW is done. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, the toilet has been flushed. Ozzie couldn’t care less. He’s in business to make money. PERIOD. If he could flood the track and race boats, he would. As long as it makes him money. That’s the bottom line.

Always thought that was the reason to be in business nobody has enough money to throw it away.

It’s time we see the future

You guys have hit it from all angles about OSW and for the most part, you are right on target. It is HIS business to run how he sees fit, and I agree he should not string people along. At a place like OSW weekly racing is a thing of the past. It’s happening at a lot of other tracks. I was recently in North Carolina talking with Lee Faulk, (for those of you who remember him), and he was telling us the same thing. Circle track racing in FL is on life support for most tracks. Too many tracks not working together to have similar rules, too many classes that are almost the same, too much politics and playing favorites in the pits.
I’ve been to 2 tracks in TN, (dirt), and they had to have extra seating installed to handle to crowd. The classes are limited, they move the program along and have everyone out by 10 o’clock. The economy is the same for TN as it is for FL, so that is not the problem as most think. It’s racers coming for fair rules and good payouts, and fans for a good show where the cars don’t all look alike.
My mistake was sitting in the 1st turn seats, and I won’t do that again. I think I had clay in all my pockets at the end.
