Attention "Old School Mini Stocks"

Several of the guys from Citrus have approached Robert Yoho at Showtime about creating a “Pro Mini Stock” class at his track. These are what the Mini Stock class was before they evolved into a Late Model with a 4cyl engine.

There are TONS of these cars sitting, Mustangs, Celicas, VW’s, Daytonas Pintos and even some pickup trucks. Initial ideas are to run a version of the Citrus rules from last year, but allow a 15" vacuum rule to allow cars from other tracks to race as well. The goal is to keep the rules simple to save the racer money, but at the same time accommodate the cars that are near race ready and currently sitting. This would also be a great way for guys that are dominating in the “Hornet” or “Mini Stock” divisions the opportunity to move with little extra cost and to race against a more advanced group of drivers. Yoho will obviously have the final say so on what goes, at this point we are looking to see what kind of interest and response we get, and who has what sitting on jack stands. If you have one of these cars and would like to help make this happen, send me a message with your email address and contact info.

good idea

To many classes have died off,mod minis, sportsman and the likes.Car counts are way down, the pro four is a good idea.I have one of my own which would be to have an entry level owm class. They would be very basic,no quick changes,no 2 speed trannies, stock front suspension, all steel motors,500 cfm carbs and everything to keep the cost way down,no trick anything, this would bring out all the old modifieds that cant keep up with the new generation and give street stock drivers an affordable class to move up to and mm a class to move into,i think both your idea and mine would be win win for drivers and the tracks,we all have priced our way out of racing trying to keep up with the next guy.In closing an aggressive tech crew to keep everybody in line is a must…retitred driver
