Citrus County Speedway cancels for tonight

After watching the weather forecast Citrus has decided to cancel tonights events as heavy rain is expected around the 5-7 p.m. hours. We know it is hit or miss sometimes, but trying to make the best decision for everyone involved to save them money and time and alow them to do other family events with enough notice. Hope to see everyone next weekend. Thanks

Thank You.

This is going to get to a point, if it hasn’t already, where people won’t even put your track on their radar. I know it would make me think twice before I spend my evening hours changing set ups, gear etc just so you guys can tell me on Saturday morning you’re not even gonna try to race… It’s Florida. From here on until October there’s going to be a 60-70% chance of rain every day.

Agreed Mike. It’s getting to be like OSW has gotten over the last several years… they have the reputation of bailing out early, not for trying to race no matter what.
Yep… it rains every day this time of year. It also STOPS raining every day.

Work AROUND that, not use it as the excuse to not try in the first place.

Not a weather man

If I lived closer I would be on same side of fence as you guys, since I dont I would rather know early and be able to do something with the family than pull for an hour wait for three hours and come home with nothing. We are headed to campground to indulge in lies and beverages with friends, make the best of every day off, rain or shine. Also it seems like the lower tier classes get shuffled to end of show on rain likely evenings so we get rained out more often than the LM and Sprint cars. Also there is a lot of Graduation ceremonies and party’s this time of year, so maybe it’s for the best this time. :ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004:

I know this subject has been beat to death on this board but…WHY, WHY, WHY do we have to “do it like up north” and race in the Summer/Rainy Season when it’s uncomfortable in the stands/pits/car when it’s NOT raining and then there’s virtually no racing at all from the end of October to the end of January when its dry and comfortable (and all the race starved snowbirds are here)??? :fragend005::fragend005::fragend005::fragend005:

love the winter spectacular

I agree Scott, my only issue is Christmas funds being redirected to racing funds!

Put it on the credit card and then pay it off with the tax return! Just kidding lol.

The problem with late-season racing is this…

The tracks still insist on running at night, and it gets freaking COLD most of those nights.

If the promoters would be smart enough to run daytime shows, it wouldn’t be a problem. I can handle a 60-70 degree afternoon race, but can’t handle a 25-35 degree night.

Switch to daytime shows, and you’d increase attendance.

Great point, Jerry. That would easily solve the cold evening dilemma. In Dec-Mar run skipping holiday weekends with big events that start in the early afternoon, ending by sundown. And the track saves $ by not turning on the lights too…

They are no better at determining the weather than they are running the track Mike. Its FLORIDA…it rains during the summer. How many times have you went to the track, it rained and the track crew dried the surface and we went back racing? Getting a show in with 35 cars and meeting the curfew isn’t a problem. These clowns have a serious problem identifying the obvious.

Nathan knows clowns

Nathan is an expert on clowns too

If it quacks like a duck, has feather and waddles it probably is a duck. The place is ran like a Circus, so therefore you and your buddy must be clowns. It doesn’t take an expert to “rediscover the obvious” in your cases, but thanks for the compliment.

If it drinks beer like a fish is it a fish or a drunk?
I would think its a fish stinking drunk…lol

Both of you need to stop and get over it. One of you should not even answer the other and you know witch one…

seeing how I live less than 3 miles from the track it has not dropped one drop of rain.old management would have been open and racing tonight

preacher &pawn

so who pi$$ed the highest.

I don’t consider it a pissing contest when your comments are based on factual claims. He got caught and is still trying to deny that it happened or that he knew anything about it… sounds kind of like Obama to me!

There is a good argument for both sides of this coin

A heads up and letting race teams know early that would travel a long distance not to bother making the drive can be a good thing. But as a former business owner and the idea of hanging the closed sign out too much is not a good thing.People will tend to forget about you or plan around you.The more logical thing to do may be either just stay closed from point a to point b,be it june to september, july to october or whatever works best.OR during these months just exclusively run local classes.NO super lates, mods, sprints, since these are the classes that usually travel the farthest. The bomber classes,4 cylinder classes, legends figure 8s etc. tend to be of more localized competitors. Not as exciting a race card but just simply a way around the rainy season weather. And yes I do agree about some afternoon race cards in the fall and winter months.
