NSS 7/12/14 + Speed of NSB Fundraiser

FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT THIS WEEK AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY - KIDS BIKE RACES ON
TAP TOO -
TRACK WILL BE TAKING PART IN THE SPEED OF NSB FUNDRAISER SATURDAY

It will be “Fan Appreciation Night” this Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway
sponsored by the law offices of Colling, Gilbert, Wright and Carter featuring
$10 adult admission, four classes of racing and kids bike racing at
intermission.
Pit gates will open a bit later than usual, 4:30 pm rather than 4 pm, as the
speedway will be displaying track vehicles including the American Auto Dodge
Challenger pace cars at the “Speed of NSB” event from 10 am to 3 pm. The
Speed of NSB is being hosted by Zack Jarrell Racing (#18 Pro Late Model) at
the New Smyrna Airport. The event is free to the public and is a fundraiser
for the Jarrell race team as well as the Southeast Volusia Humane Society.
Displays will be at AirGate Aviation’s main hangar at the New Smyrna Airport.
Jarrell’s NASCAR All-American Series race cars will be on display and the
Southeast Volusia Humane Society will have ten dogs and five cats up for
adoption on the spot. Food vendors will also have a wide variety of great
things to eat and there will be a special area for the kids to hang out.
Along with the New Smyrna Speedway pace cars, New Smyrna Harley Davidson will
have motorcycles on display as well. There will be a big raffle with great
prizes, some up to $2000 in value. Also the Carlson Sisters will be on site
from 10 am - 12 pm for pictures with the kids in a set from Disney’s “Frozen.”
Come out and enjoy the day before heading out to the speedway.
On tap for NASCAR Whelan All-American Series action will be the Sportsman
cars, E-Modifieds, Super Stocks and Strictly Stocks. Junior Beckner of Apopka
continues to be the guy to beat in the Sportsman class while Jarrett Korpi is
top dog in the E-Mods with a half-dozen wins on his 2014 resume already.
Merritt Island’s Justin Reynolds is still undefeated in the Super Stocks with
four wins in four starts, so the rest of the field probably hopes he stays
home this week!
Again, pit gates open this week at 4:30 pm with practice for all classes
slated from 5:30-6:45 pm. Grandstand gates open at 6 pm with racing action
starting at 7:30 pm with eight lap heat races for all divisions. If there are
enough entries, Spectator Races will be held during intermission. All
street-legal cars and trucks will be allowed, just no convertibles and no
motorcycles. All competitors must have a helmet (you can borrow one from a
racer in the pits if you don’t have one). Also at intermission will be kids
bike races, so kids - bring your bikes and race just like the big boys and
girls do at New Smyrna Speedway. Just make sure you bring a helmet so you can
race!
Following intermission will be 25-lap features for the Sportsman, E-Modifieds
and Super Stocks and a 20-lap Strictly Stock feature.
Adult admission is just $10 this week and all kids aged 11 and under get in
free. Come out for some great racing and family fun!
